Totally agree with you man. But all im saying is yes its ok now in terms of merchandise and kids and good in long run. All im saying is cause its aimed at kids don't mean sometimes they can go pg13 on our asses. That's all im saying.

I just don't really see the big deal... As an adult, a bit of mild swearing and some crap sexual innuendo isn't gonna increase my enjoyment of the product at all.

The only demographic that would particularly appeal to is the elder teen market so they can convince themselves that they're watching something that's a bit edgy (i.e typical teenage rebellion that they'll eventually grow out of.). I'm not knocking the mantality - Most peeps go through it in some way shape or form, but peeps gotta understand that THAT is a neiche market for WWE (rather than the family market being so as all the off-target posts seem to beleive).

I agree Airfixx, like you said i want a bit more edgy. I know it wont make a difference much if a bit more blood came back into it. I dunno i just hate renaming moves like the fu and things like that just for the kids. I mean kids know it as the fu now wwe ain't said that we cant say it no more. Its a bit late to rename a well known move and doing it for the kids market is silly. Its just one of the things that bug me that s all. I love wrestling, maybe i care to much about the product to want so much change. I know things don't happen over night and they need fans there for the next 5 years. Yes this isn't no attitude era but give us something different.

There is a BIG difference in being "kid friendly" and being "for kids." I know some people mentioned that movies directed at kids have adult jokes that are subtle, but there are also mature movies/shows that are just clean in certain ways. Take for instance Star Wars. Those movies are definitely not for kids (I'm not counting Clone Wars yet), yet they are family friendly as to where adults can be into them for themselves without having to worry about their kids seeing it. Due to the fact that Star Wars became a big franchise and it was kid friendly, it did spawn things for kids. That is what WWE is trying to do. be mature enough for adults, yet have it clean enough to insure parents that their kids can watch, thus gaining new fans while keeping old ones. So really they have the same qualities as before just sans sex and vulgarity. And if that's all you watch for, then sorry, go somewhere else.

Funnily enough, George Lucas has always insisted that the Star Wars movies were directed towards children. Yet he has people having their limbs chopped off left, right and center.

But that's a topic for another thread...

So why was Empire Strikes Back a PG (or whatever the US equivalent is) then?

Also worth considering is that there were also concepts at play - the politics of the senate and the imperial takeover - that are above the comprehension of your average Ewok-loving kid .

Yet he has people having their limbs chopped off left, right and center.

The only remotely human looking loss of bodypart was Luke's hand and whadya know... That was in the aformentioned PG-rated EmpireSB.

I'm pretty sure you only see blood two or three times in the entirey of the original trilogy.

Most Hell In A Cell matches are far more violent than anything you'll see in a Star Wars movie.

But that's a topic for another thread...

LOL..... See you at the Star Wars Uber Nerd forum.

S'funny, I know 92 was probably the start of the landslide (so to speak), but PPV-wise 1992 is one of the best years in WWE EVER!!!

Flair winning the Rumble from #3
WM8 - Flair/Savage, Bret/Piper, return of Warrior, Hogan/Sid, Jake/Taker
Summerlsam92 - Bret/Bulldog, Savage/Warrior2 (w/ Flair & Perfect on the mindgames), The (last decent) return of L.O.D.
Survivor Series - Bret/HBK, Savage&Perfect/Razor&Flair

The midcard by this point was dead, and the tag division was following suit.

You mean the same midcard which saw the IC title passed between Piper, Bret, Bulldog & HBK in classic matches....?

This is a very smart move on Vince and co's part to be "kid friendly" or whatever. The WWE as far as quality of the shows go have a lot of problems right now, but it's not because they're appealing to kids. And sexually explicit content and excessive swearing shouldn't have been on a wrestling show in the first place to be honest, kid friendly or not, and it still shouldn't. So it's nothing to get worked up over and all. :)

On another note...Star Wars? :nonono:
