Would you die for what you believe? If the answer is "no" because not
everyone is as noble as Ghandi, Jesus, or even folks like my cousin Ricky
who gladly defended our country in the military. But if you arent willing to
die what you believe in, don't take the moral high ground when it comes to
those whom you disagree with politically or ideologically.

I see and hear this every day. Many of you may know I am a news TV and talk
radio junkie, more so the latter, but it's not because I need my beliefs
reaffirmed. I do it because I want to be entertained. Yeah, there is some
empirical information that you can get, but for the most part, its style
over substance and flash over information. But I sit there and I realize
these commentators like Fox News Talk's John Gibson and his favorite MSNBC
commentator Keith Olberman are humans and are in fact commentators and are
therefore more predisposed to showing their bias as human beings. They arent
automatons like most newscasters are, inflectionless, straight news people.

I listen to "Gibby" as he's called every day and I tune into Olberman a few
times a week. And I dont mean to pick on them but they are pretty big in
their respective mediums and they both hate each other, which is funny in
and of itself. Both of them like to take the moral high ground at least once
every 5 seconds. "How can you close Gitmo, its keeping us safe" says John
Gibson. "RESIGN President Bush!" was basically one of Olberman's
cathcphrases. They both look at what is going on in the world, and from the
safety of their studios, they armchair quarterback some of the most
imporatant decisions in the world based on a lie.

And what is that lie? It's belief in personal conviction. Olberman claims to
believe in the power of government to help people, Gibson believes in the
power of the people and the constitution. But that is only to a point. And
what is that point? When it becomes too inconvenient to them. Taxes get too
high, a lack of "personal security" or whatever. They like to tel you they
believe in whatever, but they dont. Conservatives like to flash the motto
"These colors dont run", but what they really mean is "these colors turn
from red, white, and blue, into yellow" and that is the truth. As soon as it
gets a little too scary, a little too hard, or a little too inconvenient,
they abandon the gun slinging mentality of "IM RIGHT AND THOSE STUPID
(opposite party) members are wrong!" As soon as a bomb goes off, as soon as
there is a terror attack anywhere near something that has to do with them,
their attitude changes really quick. Because these people dont have beliefs,
they have nice ideas, but are too afraid to man up and actually sacrifice
for their beliefs.

What these people fail to realize is that the price of freedom is vigilance,
and sometimes sacrifices have to be made. And if that happens, one day, to
be my life, I would consider it an honor to die for the American beliefs I
hold near and dear to my heart just as those people who died on 9/11. If I
have to get blown up for what I believe, so be it. Because once you
compromise what you believe for the ILLUSION of safety, you will never come
back from that slippery slope.

So as I said in the beginning, if you arent the type of person who would die
for what they believe, there is nothing wrong with that. But you dont have
beliefs. I dont know exactly what to call what you have other than "ideas".
And if you are that kind of person, dont attack others who don't think like
you, because when it comes down to it, you will kiss the moral high ground
and love it if someone scares you enough. You have no backbone and you are
nothing but a saber rattler. In short, you are not an American. Move to
France where they like to lay down and wave the white flag every time a wind blows.
