You're right. you don't have to go on any further about how you like shitty movies. Lol.
come on...they're not bad. they may have done "ok" films but they're not bad.
I am Legend = awesomeness
epic fail. 100% serious

Czech out American Psycho and the Machinist for great Bale flicks if you haven't seen them.
.
WHAT? i loved both but they're far from his greatest. unless you're talkin' about his performance, not the film overall. cuz the prestige>>>>>>>american psycho+the machinist combined.

ive watched pretty much all the films bale had a major role in. tell me if there's something i missed, other than empire of the sun:
1. reign of fire
2. me
3. batman begins
4. the machinist
5. the prestige
6. rescue dawn
7. equilibrium
8. HARSH TIMES!!
9. 3:10 to yuma
10. captain corelli's mandolin. although his role wasn't major..

i liked them all, but he's still not my fav. actor. at least not now.

I gota go with Mark Wahlberg and Will Smith. I have yet to see a movie from these two that I have not liked. And they've proven they can act in any type of movie weather it be action, sci fi, comedy, or serious roles. For young actors I got to go with Shia LeBeouf, this guy's got a bright future ahead of him. And again, another that can act in many different gernes (sp) of movies. All of which (from what I've seen) have been good.
genres*
Ugh. I can't stand Will Smith movies that I've seen (except Independence Day). Fresh Prince is awesome, but I have not liked one movie Will Smith has been in with the exception of ID.

I Am Legend had too many holes, and the fact that they changed the ending pissed me off. They were afraid no one would like the fact that Will Smith's character is a legend because he kidnaps and murders the creatures. NO! They thought the American public can't comprehend someone being an asshole to someone different. It's always the different person that has to be the asshole.

Denzel Washington is so damn boring that I can not watch any of his movies. I remember when Manchurian Candidate came out, I was excited for it because I love the original, but nope. Talk about a snooze fest.

Oh, and Monk, I love American Psycho. I haven't seen the Machinist yet though. or Equilibrium, but I'm kinda hesitant on that one.
its not great but you'll like it. so dont be.

and wait, you didn't like men in black? i fucking loved it. and i could name a lot of washington films that i enjoyed. out of time, inside man, training day, courage under fire and...de javu.

now to my list...which is pretty darn big i cant even remember everyone. in no order:
-jim carrey(fuck you if he's not on your list)
-ed norton
-kevin spacey <3
-chris bale
-liam neeson
-al pacino
-colin farrel
-gary oldman (one of the most, if not thE most versatile actor(s) in history. the guy gets a fucking new accent in every fucking movie)

not a good actors but entertaining(same old shit kinda actors):

-bruce willis
-keanu reeves
-samuel "el muthafuckah!" jackson
-arnold Schwarzeneggerrrr
-johnny depp
-sly

guys who i hated before, but starting to grow on me+good actors but cant put em in my fav. list:

-leonardo dicaprio (smurf....startin' to like him though)
-guy pearce
-heath ledger
-robert di nero (for some reason he pisses me off...maybe its his roles...damn heel heat)
-brad pitt (he'd go in my favs. list but fuckin' douche is bangin' angie T_T)
-mark whalberg(still fucking hate him. only reason he's in this post is because of the departed)
-tom cruise(bite me, he's a good actor)
-robert downey (although tropic thunder is enough; chaplin, iron man and zodiac have to be mentioned. his role in zodiac wasn't big though)
-morgan freeman (lol at the wanted scene...it almost ruined everything he's done)

I LOVE The Prestige. It is definitely one of my all time favorites.

ive watched pretty much all the films bale had a major role in. tell me if there's something i missed, other than empire of the sun:

2. me

uh....The Dark Knight. :D

It wasn't as bad as the others, but it just seemed too stupid to me. There were some funny parts, but overall it was just dumb, imo.

^good call about Daniel Day Lewis and Djimon Hounsou. I knew upon watching Gladiator back in 2000 that Hounsou was going to be a force worth reckoning.

As for Mr. Lewis: There's not a single actor out there as good as he is in terms of actually "becoming the character". Did you know he stayed in character for all of the filming of Gangs of New York? He had grips throw cold water on him and demanded that people verbally abuse him so he could feel more like Bill the Butcher.

I watched Blood Diamond for Leonardo DiCaprio and came out with complete appraisal for Hounsou. He stole the spotlight from Leo in that movie. Breathtaking performance.

As you can tell from my list - I like method actors. Unfortunately it has been awhile since I could enjoy a Johnny Depp film. The pre-2002 era made him: Donnie Brasco, Sleepy Hollow, The Ninth Gate, The Man Who Cried, Chocolat, Blow, Gilbert Grape, Edward Scissorhands and Fear And Loathing. Then the big-time Hollywood $$$ turned him commercial and I don't give a fuck anymore.

Luckily, he is rumoured to be involved in a new flick based on a different Hunter S. Thompson novel.

Oddly I didn't much care for Depp pre 2002, opposite of you. There's rumors he's been talked to about potentially playing the Riddler in the next Batman movie. Nothing's for sure yet, obviously, but he has said he;d do it in a heartbeat.

define "method actors".....depp's new films are good, and his performances are better. but they're repetitive. i hate it when they do that to actors. why should he even accept?

edit-

@ chuckleberry hound; i believe i mentioned "me"....guess what it refers to? :D

Method actors are what gatesoftanhauser mentioned - they mirror the personality of their character on and off the set. Marlon Brando was a great example back in the days.

Heath Ledger is another - to prep for the Joker role, he locked himself away in a London hotel for 4-6 weeks to build the sociopath nature and perfect the voice and laugh of the character. He well and truly fucked himself about to finely-tune the role to perfection, and it's argued that the extremity of his efforts playing the Joker led to his eventual death.

On that alone, he deserves every gong imaginable.
