According to Pwinsider.com, the name of WWE's June PPV will be changed this year from "One Night Stand" to "Extreme Rules". This is being done because of WWE's recent switch to a PG rating.

Makes sense to me. Especially considering its really no longer a one night stand.

extreme Rules sounds lame tho..

i wonder who was the genius behind it...

LOL, this is done tdue to the pg rating? Bullshit. How would Extreme Rules be more family friendly than "One Night Stand"? Anyone who knows what One Night Stand means in a sexual way should also know that it isn't meant that way in this name.

Anyways, it's a good name I guess, it doesn't really matter, but I see this PPV being scrapped soon anyways.
In the meantime, it's good it's here, but at least they took the name away, seeing as it has nothing to do with ECW anymore.

The name change was needed but I don't like what it was changed to. Seems bland imo.

Well, this hopefully means all the matches are extreme rules, hence the name. Otherwise it's Blue.

Correct me if I'm wrong but ONS never had anything to do with the original ECW.

Edit: Just re-read an realise what you meant, but still, they've hardly been WWE-ECW exclusive shows either.

Well that has been the specific concept for the last 3 years... I can't see them changing the concept now they've effective re-named the event after said concept.

This name is kind of weak. =/ One Night Stand didn't make a lot of sense either but "Extreme Rules" is as generic as it gets. :smh They should rename the PPV, "No More Mr. Nice Guy". >_>

maybe to "redemption" or "The End of all Things to Come" or "Severe Punishment" or Ruthless Temptation or Forever Tainted...

Ya'll are placing the emphsis on "Rules" aren't you?

i.e. extreme RULES. (as in Hulk Rules).... Making it effectively Extremety rules! rather than stating the obvious (as in the rules are extreme).

Hardly creative, but regardless, not bad IMO.

I'm not sure if you meant the PPVs them self had nothing to do with original ECW or the name/ concept had nothing to do. Either way, ignore my post where necessary, lol. The first One Night Stand was pretty much an ECW reunion, sans the ones that hate WWE. i'm assuming the latter since you probably know that the first one Night stand in '05 was an ECW reunion. As for the name, it was just WWE saying we brought back ECW for one night only.

on a side note, ONS2 was much better. Cena vs. Van Dam....I loved it. The only PPV I own on DVD.

^^^I just wasn't sure if the name had a previous history with Heyman's ECW.

The PPV needs to be scrapped, not renamed. WWE have way too many PPV's as it is, meaning they're just either throwing away big matches on shit PPV's (Triple H vs Edge @ GAB), or they're just havce rematch after rematch after rematch (Triple H vs Cena @ NOC).

Twelve PPV's is the MAXIMUM that WWE should be having. They're only going to hurt themselves in the long run, as people will find that the PPV's are skippable, thus reducing their buyrates.

Why don't they just call it One Night Only..... Extreme Rules does not sound like a ppv match. I dont like the switch at all.
