You say that all Shelton has is flips and cool moves yet you say Jeff is better. And I actually wish they wouldn't put him as a high flyer because he is unmatched when he works his technical game. JoMo + Rey are better acrobats, not wrestlers. Hardy and Trips are...well the fact they get cheered more than anyone proves that overness means nothing about how good you are as the fans are either 10 or sheep. (Trips is a great promo though.) Orton and Cena are mediocre. Taker and HBK can put on some good matches but rely on gimmick/status to stay over. And WWE Punk is pretty good, he's no Shelton though.

CMS was right about connecting meaning everything on pushes, but it doesn't make anyone good because they get a reaction. And Shelton has little charisma and bad mic skills, nobody is arguing that.

You CLEARLY have no idea what professional wrestling is, and you're a firm subscriber to smarkdom. A wrestler's job is to draw and get fans excited. Therefore, we can conclude that a good wrestler does such. Wrestlers that do such are those that I have mentioned, especially Jeff Hardy. Shelton Benjamin does not.

You can call HHH and Hardy fans "sheep" but that doesn't change the fact that their view of wrestling is not inferior to yours. If anything, they're real wrestling fans and you're a WORKRATEZ and MOOOOOOVEZ~ kind of guy.

I don't think you understand what a "wrestler" is, and that is why you are coming of as incompetent. You say that John Morrison (Or "JoMo" as you refer to him as) and Rey Mysterio are better acrobats, but not wrestlers. You seem to believe that YOU hold the key to judging a wrestler. In fact, you do not. You are a person who believes that Shelton Benjamin is a good wrestler, proving that you're, quite frankly, full of smarky bullshit. Jeff Hardy draws. Triple H draws. Randy Orton draws. John Cena draws like a motherfucker, and you calling him "mediocre" only serves to highlight your foolishness. That's what a wrestler is--somebody who tells a story that draws in fans. You are stuck in the mindset that wrestling is a sport, when in reality it is an art, and the wrestlers are the artists. That's why Hulk Hogan was a better wrestler than Dean Malenko and John Cena is a better wrestler than Shelton Benjamin.

And don't even play the "those were entertainers, not wrestlers" bullshit. A wrestler IS an entertainer. Trying to split those into two different categories is futile. A wrestler tells a story, both in the ring and out. Shelton cannot tell a story in either situation. Maybe one day, because I do sometimes enjoy his matches. However, he has a lot to learn.

My problem with him isn't that he botches spots; my problem with him is that his spots make no sense. Again, your fondness of him tells me that you watch wrestling for KEWL SPOTZ and AWESOME FLIPZ and not for the story. You want to know why Jeff Hardy is successful at the flips and Shelton isn't? Because Jeff Hardy is a legitimate babyface in peril when he does his crazy shit. Shelton is just a guy doing flips for fun. One guy will get cheered, the other will not. That's because one guy tells a story, and the other does not. In other words, one guy is a good wrestler, and the other is not. Hint: Shelton is not.

In-ring currently Shelton and MVP are better. Shelton and MVP compared to Taker and HBK circa 1997 would be different.

Punk is good too just like MVP or Shelton, but he steals too many moves to get respect. :smh And i'm not talking about promos, as i've said a lot are far ahead of Shelton. Trust me, I realize Shelton has no mic skills.

Shelton was cared about. He got voted above everyone on Raw just to get the IC title shot against Y2J. That made him the #3 face on Raw (as HBK and Benoit were not eligible).

And the company has no confidence in him clearly. As I said he'll never get a big title in all likelihood. That doesn't mean his matches aren't better than the current "Main eventers" right now.

@Axis: Okay then. But as I said, his actual work is why I like him, not his flippy spots (that are pre-planned btw). I guess I like wrestling so I won't deny that I like people who know how to work on a wrestling show and I don't care how much they sell t-shirts. I guess i'm a smark. =/

I was mildly supporting and agreeing Hometown Kid, until you said Randy Orton was mediocre in the ring and now you lost me by saying HBK is a notch below MVP and Benjamin in overall work.

Name me the great matches from MVP & Shelton from 2008 and HBK & Taker's will be a much larger amount.

Stealing moves? You do realize every move anybody does, somebody else did it first. By your logic, Shelton's whole moveset is 'stolen'

We all know that was rigged :shifty:. But seriously, that was 5 years ago, and he was up against a bunch of jobbers.

Once again, bring me some of Shelton's great matches.

Selling t-shirts is not a cause of good storytelling; it is an effect. They sell merchandise (which is not the kind of drawing I was even talking about, but you brought it up and it supports my argument) BECAUSE they can tell stories in the ring.

And for the record, I would say that Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker are actually in their story-telling prime right now; more so Shawn Michaels, with the Undertaker really peaking in the last couple of years.

On a side note, I realized that I forgot to list Edge as somebody who is undoubtedly better than Shelton Benjamin. CMStar's sig reminded me of him. Oh, and Chris Jericho. Wow, there are probably more I am forgetting too.

Shelton's the 21st best heel in the WWE! Pay some respect!

But seriously Dylan, you lost my respect when you tries to make him out as elite, and said his wrestling skills were above Taker's and HBK's.

Call me when Shelton Benjamin can actually tell a story in a ladder match like HBK and Y2J did instead of doing a series of spots (and botches)

I wouldnt call Benjamin in the elite.. cause he hasn't sold Mania, PPV...

But i will say this he is a good U.S. Champion and I-C Champion...but he isn't better than Taker and alot of those ones you named.. except morrison isn't better than him, Morrison basically averages **1/2-*** matches in singles, while Benjamin has stepped his game up better than that...

but here is some good benjamin matches

WGTT vs Mysterio/Kidman vengeance 2003
HBK vs Benjamin 2/5/2005 raw (gold rush)
HBk Vs Benjamin 23/1/2006 raw

You see Kennedy couldn't have great matches with HBK, But benjamin can..

Benjamin even wrestled 2 ***1/2 matches against taker this month.. Kennedy had a lengthy feud with taker, but there matches were meh...

benjamin ***1/2 matches
benjamin vs Christian Series 2004
RVD vs benjamin B/lash 2006
Nitro vs Carlito vs Benjamin venegance 2006

There is a couple of good ladder matches he has been in.. But most of them are about ***1/2...(i think benjamin loses focus in some ladder matches, as he has done some botching in them)...

Shelton is gonna have to change his theme. to "I Was stopped by TA-KER"

Seriously. Taker is gonna be US Champ soon... but if by SOME MIRACLE....Benjamin wins clear victory...i give it till end of 2010 to see him with a world title around his waist.

I think people are now saying he's overrated because they're frustrated with the fact he never got his push. Benjamin being compared with Michaels and 'Taker is laughable. Michaels can still put on a better match, you wouldn't know he was nearly 44.

People used to be excited with the fact Benjamin would be getting his push but when it never happened people lost interest. If he had got his push this argument wouldn't be going on. He has the potential, you cannot take that away.

But there is no way he can be compared with 'Taker or HBK, like I said. He's just been a wasted talent who's had the pushes planned and then had Creative get cold feet with it. He's the Kane of this generation, a wasted talent who could've been but wasn't. It's too late now.

Wasted talent? WWE can only do so much pushing a guy who can't talk. They send him over HHH, Y2J, Christian, booked him to steal the show at WM, Y2J again, and guess what, he didn't get over.

OK, let's try as a heel. He went over Flair, rub from HBK, another IC title reign, let him steal the show at Mania again...not over.

WWE has tried to push him, but again, the crowd just doesn't connect with him, and by now, I am sure they never will.

Um... A guy who cant talk? *coughsJeffcough*...he is WWE CHAMPION... i mean seriously... Shelton gets booed as much as Jeff gets cheered....He is basically a Black, Heel, Better version of Jeff hardy.

And TBH the Smackdown crowd arent the smartest... they just cheer and boo who they think is popular... not because they actually should be.... I mean look all the cheer is hardy's, taker, and hhh, and all they boo is Vickie, Edge, and Big Show....

Shelton is going places...If not... go where everyone who can do betetr than wwe let's them.. TNA...Shelton could dominate there anyway....

Mostly because he's actually over. Besides, it took him over 10 years to actually get there, and even now that he's there, people don't see him as anything else than a transitional champion.

Lol, I am not even adressing this. You actually think Shelton gets the same amount of heat as Jeff Hardy gets cheered? Lol, I mean, just lol.

Let me get this straight. The smackdown crowd isn't the smartest because...they cheer the people that are over. My God, the humanity.

Even there Shelton won't be champion. Like I said, WWE has tried to push the guy, but if he can't talk, well, that's just his fault.
