I'm surprised no one has done this... but this guy is going be the future of excellent matches in the next 5 years within a WWE ring...

But Benjamin deserves has cred, Hopefully he's U.S. Champ for another 6-25 months.. we need him to break Lex Luger record....

He always puts excellent matches, however, until he improves in the mic, he wont go upper on the card (he has improved, I'll give him that)

The guy has no charisma and bad microphone skills, he botches at times in the ring although he has improved, I don't want to see him much longer as the US Champion but much to my disgust it looks like he is going to hold it for quite a long time. Has he even had a feud with anyone besides R-Truth with the US Title, if no, then the reign seems pretty lack luster at best tbf

2nd favorite wrestler in WWE, 1st being Orton. But he's improved and he's continuing to improve. The thing I'm actually liking about his title reign which is different from others, is that people who he feuds with, they don't win the title. It seems as though now, that when you feud for a title, a majority gets the title. So you know that somewhere down the line, they'll be champ and it takes the suspence out of it. But with Truth and Helms, they've gunned for his title and didn't win it. I hope the next guy doesn't win his next feud either.

Oh.. and the day when Shelton Benjamin wins a World title, I'll shit my pants in excitement (if I don't read any spoiler before hand)

Yeah Shelton's easily my favorite WWE wrestler. His in-ring work is unmatched, but as it stands he'll be stuck in mid-card land for awhile. He should probably be US Champion until they decide to move him up to ME (if). He's at least okay on the mic now. Like in 06 he was at like a Jeff Hardy/John Morrison level in Mic skills. Now he's like at an AJ Styles or Tommy Dreamer level on the mic.

He should play to the crowd more and will never be an overly charismatic performer. But he's starting to get recognized by the fans just based on how good he is and even getting heat, despite the sabotaging of the booking for him the past 4 years. (Here is how all of his fake feuds go over his title by week: Lose cleanly to contender, lose in a tag match while teaming with MVP, win against contender in title match, promo, random match, repeat.)

Other things that could help his World title cause would be to go to Raw + turn face. Good luck to him and hope he continues his inprovement pretty much. :y:

Yes, he is improving a lot but you are terribly overrating him, he botches quite a bit or used to but I will admit that he is improving, yet I do not think he is ready to even be close to the main event. His in ring skills are good at best but not unmatched, there is more to a match then doing well technical moves and being able to switch your styles but I will admit, he can wrestle well but I don't see him being able to get the crowd going at all just yet, his charisma really lets him down in the ring to me.

That's not the first time you have said that, but I do want to know.

How does going to a show as a face and being behind John Cena, Shawn Michaels, CM Punk and Rey Mysterio will bring him closer to a World Title?

Seriously, he never botches. Seriously. Unless he's trying some kind of high flying or daredevil move he's one of the most polished workers in recent memory. He could be a little more balanced though, as it seems he has a tendency to just "go" instead of ring generaling it, but I can't think of anyone in the history of wrestling who could be booked as a powerhouse, high flyer and technical guru to good to great standards. Even "gold" maybe. :shifty:

(And another thing, get rid of this gold crap. Seriously again. :nonono:)

@CMS: It's pretty simple. Going over in feuds with Punk and Mysterio is well within' his grasp at the moment. He won't get over Cena or Micheals, even his biggest supporters won't think that. But a rivalry with a heel champ like Orton or Jericho could elevate him to "title" status.

And I think it's more likely he'll go over Cena, Micheals, or Orton rather than H, Taker and Edge.

^^^^He's not over enough as a heel to go over the super-popular Mysterio or Punk....

"...And I think it's more likely he'll go over Cena, Micheals, or Orton rather than H, Taker and Edge."

What exactly is that meant to substantiate?

My opinion...

He lacks charisma, mic skills and personality and his current US title reign has been very dull... He looks lost in the ring some of the time and if it wasn't for his amatuer wrestling skills I don't think he'd even have a job with WWE.

Granted he's got a little better of late and with the right opponent a good match (by free-TV standards) can transpire, but WWE have been doing their best with him for 5 or 6 years now and he still hasn't really got over enough to gain a decent amount of heat/cheers.

It's not like I'm eager to hate on him.. I'd love him to become a wrestling beast in the veign of Benoit, Eddie, Angle and all the uber-workers, but this far down the line, I don't think he'll ever make that particular grade.

Shelton benjamin can wrestle like a main eventer in the ring.. His matches with HBK on raw's show he can..

his matches with taker as of late have been about ***1/2 good matches...

Yes his mic work needs helping.. But i'll go on the fact that i reckon shelton benjamin will hold a world title in wwe before it htis WM 30...

i wouldnt make him main eventer yet.. Not ready.. but he is a solid upper midcarder...plus he's only been in WWE for about 6 years still alot to show to the fans before putitng the world title on him...

I don't wish to stoke an age old argument, but this proves nothing... Who HASN'T had a good, if not great, match against HBK (that have faced him, of course)?

...And to a lesser extent, Taker is the same - Until recently he's dragged a decent match out of most people when push has come to shove (i.e. Big matches or PPVs).

Incidentally... You said matcheS with Taker... I only recall 1 on SD.

BTW, Shelton might be an awesome wrestler and getting over Punk and Rey might be on his realm, but here's the deal.

If you have Orton as the champion, you would have Cena challenging him first, then as second option Batista, then HBK, then CM Punk and hell, then Rey Mysterio, all before Shelton Benjamin.

In SD, he would only line up after Triple H and Hardy

I don't think we'll ever see Shelton as a top champ (Unless you count the ECW Title as a top championship), but he'll be one of those guys that consistenly puts on good matches, regardless of who he's facing.

They wrestled each other on this week's SD, Airfixx. The match is already up on Dailymotion, and let me tell you, it was better than the match they had a couple of weeks ago.

Shelton is definately a really solid worker. He's had some pretty crazy spots over the years and pretty much works well with everyone. The only problem is that he's got little to no charisma and is horrible on the mic.
I think taking him off ECW was a mistake. He easily could have played the top heel over on ECW and had some great feuds. An ECW title run would have done him good.
He's a hell of a worker but honestly I don't ever see him holding a major title. It's a shame because as someone else said he's also pretty flawless in the ring. We never really see him botch any spots.

That's why I said he would have to get put over Rey and Punk in a couple of feuds first. Granted this is all a few years down. HBK and Batista will in all likelihood be gone. Cena + maybe Swagger or SD guy at the moment can't ME all the time so Shelton would get his shot eventually. But like SP said, no matter how much I like him or where he goes, I don't legitimately think he'll ever get a major title run no matter what, unless it's like a Scott Steiner run that nobody will care about a month after it's over.

As far as SD goes, like I said he'd never go over Hardy or Trips in line with a title shot. Those 2 are always on top when Taker is on vacation. (On the face side anyway.)
