'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. In the 'Attitude' Era there couldn't have been a more perfect character for the audience to connect with.

Exactly. Austin is the best.
At that time Austin was doing things that people wanted to do in real life, in the mid to late ninties Austin would stand up to his boss and do things people wouldn't dare to do. They could relate to him as Vince the boss would look down on him and make his road to gold harder and harder.

The Attitude era was just perfect timing for Austin, if he came in the 80's during the Hogan and Andre and Piper era than it wouldn't have been as sucsessful nor would it have been if he had came now in the Millenium era.

I'm not going with my favorite, but in terms of worldwide success, I'm going to say Hulk Hogan. People from every corner of the earth know who he is, probably including secluded rain forest tribes in Brazil. He wasn't the best wrestler, but I'll overlook that for what he really did for Wrestling in the 1980's. Face it, he became the "Elvis" of wrestling. The first truly huge megastar.

In terms of my favorite, The Undertaker. I liked him back when I was 7, when he first debuted, and I still mark for him today.

How could it be anyone other then Hulk Hogan? This question is the basically asking who is the best wrestler or all time, and it's easily Hogan. With the exception of Austin, nobody has ever been as big of a star, but what separates the two is that Hogan has the longevity that Austin doesn't have.

Stone Cold Steve Austin, and by quite a bit.
It had the impact, and versatility to do big, crazy storylines, and seem larger than life, without being a character like Undertaker or Kane, and had the ability to be in normal, simple feuds, and make the audience invest in it.
Plus, he is the most related to character of all time, all while being a version of himself.

The rock, no question about it for me, was great heel or face, and entertaining. Never really liked Austin but the stunner is cool.

Yeh going on what MK' said above. With Austin being a character you can relate to. I totally agree but for people who voted for the Undertaker, no one can relate to him I mean it's not even plausable or beleivable that someone comes back from the dead and or being buried alive about three times. So there is no comparison in my mind. Austin > All on that list of poll.

I got to go with Vinnie Mac personally. While all the others are great for their own reasons, Mr McMahon as the evil boss is just portrayed so brilliantly. From the struts, to the cocky bastard, to the powerful ego maniac. Vince is the shit.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin, there is no other character in wrestling history that can compare to him.

Vince McMahon comes in at second position but Austin definitely gets the vote.

Hogan or Taker... Tho' that's not to say they're my favourite by any means.

I would like to see Kizzarny added to the poll.... Then I'll vote! ;o]

Hulk Hogan and it really isn't close. No one had the appeal Hogan did. Not only was he the greatest face wrestler of all time, he was also one of the best heels of all time.

am i missing something here? aren't we supposed to share our opinions, not facts? how can you even discuss a fact? if its a fact, theres no point in discussion really. its a fact that hogan, austin and the rock are the 3 faces most people get in their heads when they remember wrestling and the 3 characters that got the most appeal from the fans. what do YOOOOOOOOOOOU think though? who was the character that entertained YOU the most regardless of his success?

my favs:
1. the rock
2. vince mcmahon
3. austin
4. shawn michaels.
