Why bother having the Intercontinental Title

Has William Regal even had a match since he won the Intercontinental Title? This shit is ridiculous. He had no interference in the #1 contenders tournament. Even after Punk won the #1 contenders tourney they still have had barely any build up to their match which is going to happen when? They should've just left the title with Santino. At least he was defending it weekly and adding some entertainment to raw with the title around his waist.

Don't think William Regal has been fit enough or well enough to compete recently. I would have thought after say, 4-6 weeks that the WWE take a stand and relinquish the title. They must have faith in the title holder.

I do believe it might be defended within the month.

The IC title could do with going away for a while, like it did a few years ago, and hopefulyl when it comes back, it would have more alue, and people would put more effort into the division.
I see all these midcard feuds that could be spiced up with the IC title ont he line, but instead, the IC title never really gets used.
So they shouldnt bother having the IC title IMO.
Just disband it for a year or two, then bring it back.

I don't see much to complain on right now, they had a tournament to determine the 'prestigious' number one contender for the Championship and are going to do something out of it, just have patience young man.

Anyway, it's not too bad. They want to make the title more "prestigious"...and when you think about it, when is the WWE title actually defended except for on the actual PPV's. I'm sure Regal would have been in matches if he were able to though.

But that's the thing. You can't just shit all over it for the past 3 years, having it mean nothing, and then suddenly decide "Hey, let's make it better" and try to get people to all of a sudden think it's prestigious all again, and that years of it being used as comedy stints, or, not at all, never happened.
I still say there's no point having it.

However, I doubt they will do what I want (disband it for a while)
So, in that case, their only hope is to just try to put some good matches on the line with it, with guys liek Regal, Punk, Kofi, Burchill, Rey, etc just having matches, and not for stupid storylines. Leave the stupid storylines to non-title feuds.

Edge and Orton it helped, but that was 5 years ago for both.
Morrison, Santino and Kofi (the actual recent ones) got where because of it? Same spot as they were before.

John Morrison went on to win the ECW World title and the tag titles a couple of times which makes him look pretty good imo because after they saw his reign they thought he would be a good replacement for Benoit at that PPV and he won the ECW title. Now he is in what looks to be the best tag team in WWE atm. Kofi Kingston won it which sort of helped establish himself on the RAW roster and it so because, he also won the tag titles with CM Punk, a former world champ. So being champ must have helped WWE realize that they had talent otherwise they wouldn't have continued winning titles. Santino hasn't done to much but he's a comedy character so he didn't need to do anything else. The titles helps pretty much everyone who holds it either to give them a good push or for WWE to show they have faith in certain wrestlers like when they gave it to Hardy and Umaga a while back.

I know the reason as to why the IC title doesn't mean as much as it did before, its because nearly every PPV it used to be defended in good matches with all the mid carders. An IC title feud was like telling a mid carder he is on his way up or whoever the IC Champ was would be getting a good push. And you all know when the IC title matches stopped? Right when WWE made Tri-branded PPVs. With 3 shows, you have enough time on a PPV for 3 world title matches, a few matches to enhance rivalries and the odd divas match taking time away from the midcarders forcing them to only be on RAW and do shit all. With the old PPVs where it would be just RAW or just Smackdown the shows would have to build feuds for their main eventers, mid carders, tag teams and others but now they have to work on about 3 feuds each which sucks because the lower classed guys do nothing. I'm pretty sure thats why the IC title doesn't mean as much now and why the midcrad/tag teams are worse also. So Yeah.

As the other guy said, Morrison went on to win the ECW Championship and really become a main guy on the ECW brand. Due to that, he's one of the brightest young stars in the company.

Santino Marella has gained a significant increase in reactions since his "Honk-A-Meter" stint. Plus, now he's both a comedy act AND a legitimate competitor.

Kofi Kingston came over as just a young talent floating from ECW, but he INSTANTLY changed that by winning the Intercontinental title. Since then, he's actually one of the most over faces on Raw, which surprises me as well.

You're both right. As someone said, it's been 5 years since guys like Edge and Orton have had the belt, and they've done a lot in those 5 years. It hasn't been nearly as long for other guys like Morrison or Kofi...ect.
No matter how the title is currently being portrayed on the show it still looks like to add Intercontinental Champion to youre resume. As it does with any title.
