Can someone explain the stupidity of this storyline to me?

Good point but if it was a real world situation wouldn't he look to sell some of his property or cars or w/e before working for JBL. Maybe his wife could get a job to help the family out for money until they get on their feet again. Perhaps all these friends and family he helped out over the years could give him a place to stay? These are the sorts of things that happen in "real world situations"

Not necessarly. There are people who will go into major debt before they sell their property. They cant give up the lifestyle so the just charge everything.

I suppose. I'm speaking from a regular persons perspective and can't really speak for what a millionaire would do in this situation. I think if they wanted to sell the storyline a bit more they should've started it out with Shawn looking to sign a bankruptcy clause and then JBL coming to the rescue. It needed a bit more build up to make it believable.

That's why they had HHH come to HBK for Shawn to basically say that doing it this way was more dignifying than asking friends for help. People's pride and egos get in the way all of the time in real life.

So instead of asking a FRIEND he has had for years for help who by the way is a main eventer and as everyone knows is married to the VP of the company, he'd rather work for someone he HATES, because of his pride?

lmao, that's one of the most Blue reasons not to do something I have ever heard.

I agree it is Blue, but it really does happen all the time. People won't ask family for help, but they'd be glad to go to the government (whom they claim to hate) for handouts.

Peeps, just as long as it doesn't have Lashley, Donald Trump, or an illegitimate child, I think we should all consider ourselves lucky.

By the time the Mania match comes up, you know how much build up that match is going to have?

The only thing that has me curious about this storyline is how they end it in terms of finance. I mean if Shawn turns on JBL or gets fired he'll still have big financial problems won't he? Will he be forced to a life time of performing in front of 20 people in high school gyms? Maybe he could work in a freak show at the circus for kizarny? cizome one, cizome all to see the amazing fizifty year old sexy 'boy'

It's just a time waster until Mania. I don't think it's that bad of an idea. I can see HBK eventually going against JBL around February, giving them some time to build up the hate until Mania.

Or HBK wins the rumble...thus a title shot.. Once he's the champ, all of his financial problems will go away. As to how they would end the storyline.

Sounds good, do you reckon WWE would have JBL vs HBK as the RAW Main Event though? Seeing as JBL can't really deliver that much and his previous WM Main Event (WM21) was kind of ...ugh...lol

I doubt HBK will become champ ever again though :(

You're not supposed to think deep when you're watching Kayfabe programming

The storyline suggests that Shawn Michaels doesn't have enough money to keep up with everything, he works for JBL to earn some extra money. That's somewhat logical.

Rather than re-hash....

Bearing in mind HBK can't fuck up too many times as logic says JBL would just fire him, this is somehow how I think it's gonna go...

Pre-WM.
*Cena narrowly foils a JBL-hatched plan of interference from HBK during the title match. JBL blames HBK.
*JBL comes down to the ring and eliminates HBK from the outside during the RR match - JBL: "I won't have any of my employees overshadowing my greatness/headlining WM etc., especially after HBK failed me."
*Despite frequent attempted assistance from HBK, JBL fails to win the title shot during some form of contendership clusterfuck @ NWOut.
*JBL on Raw: "Seeing as HBK repeatedly screwed up my road to mania, I can still still represent my pedigree as the 'Wrestling God' at the biggest event of them all..... At WM I shall represent Raw in the inter-promotional challenge".
*JBL seen backstage on SD crapping himself after VG announces Undertaker as the SD entrant in the inter-promo match.
*JBL on Raw: During an official contract signing between Taker & JBL (HBK is present by JBLs side)... "Lately, I've been wondering exactly what the point of employing you is, Shawn.... I've found a way for HBK to redeem himself etc..... Spoke to Steph etc.... Re-written contract.... Now it's Shawn vs Taker @ WM"
*Taker beats Shawn @ WM...
Post WM.
*As a result of the WM loss, JBL 'demotes' HBK, employs various humiliation tactics (See Dibiase on Virgil for loose example)...
*Eventually HBK finds himself in another multi-man contenders match with JBL and, seeing this as his route to financial security via a WHC win, he gambles and eliminates JBL at the earliest opportunity... Shawn is down to the last two and despite JBLs intereference in the climax, HBK wins and challenges for the title at the next PPV...
*HBK faces heel-champion 'X' (who has JBL in their corner). HBK overcomes the champ regardless of JBLs repeated attempts to foil HBKs bid for 'freedom'.
*JBL costs HBK title the next night on Raw.
*JBL & HBK embark on a multi-match grudge fued.

This feels so much like the Eric Young/Robert Roode angle and eventually the Traci/Roode angle. With Traci not wanting to leave Roode Enterprises cos she needed money etc.

What about the explanation behind Kane's fake scarring? It was so confusing we were expected to actually think about that one..huh?? huh??

*pokes C4 with stick*:tv_horror:

lol, j/k. We all know they couldn't explain Glenn Jacobs taking off his mask and un-shirting, so they just grasped at straws and made some shit up, probably 10 minutes before the match happened.
