And goddamn I hate the "safe" wwe style. This is a move that is basically up to the receiver to protect themselves since their basically free falling towards punk's knee. Every single move in wrestling has the potential to be dangerous whether it's a simple arm drag or a vertebreaker. Is there a rule that says once you become a wwe superstar you have to forget how to take bumps and protect yourself?

I remember when Punk had blonde hair.

Anyway that's a great point you brought up about wrestlers could get hurt doing any kind of move, which is why WWE goes a little overboard on their "style". But I think they're probably gonna let him keep doing this move in particular anyway though...=/

It's not just WWE's safe style it's the fact that it's up to the people receiving the moves to know how to take them. I know it can't be easy taking a move where you basically freefall face first into another person's knee. This is part of the reason why I don't want to see anybody on the Indy circuit make it WWE. Not because I don't want them to make money and be successful but because their moves would be so severely limited. There'd be no awful waffles, brainbustaaaaaaahs, package piledrivers, steenalizers, cop killahs, psycho drivers, 630s, Obliterators (MsChif's middle rope leg ddt/piledriver thingy) and so on.

I like the move its pretty good finisher. The thing is its a Kinda dodgy move to pull off 100% risk free. It's up to the person taking the shot to pull it off and make it look good. But its also up 2 the one giving it to watch what they are doing. Its a contact to the face move so its always gonna have a big risk factor. I hope he keeps the move. If the do away with it i hope they give him a new sick finisher. As for the Pepsi plunge thats a wicked move but as its been said above there is no way they gonna let him use that while Trips is still active. It would just make the pedigree look weak as fuck.

This being a notable example. I don't think Jay/Mark Briscoe was hurt here but, still, can you imagine seeing something like this in the WWE? Thought not.

And with the match with Rey, the problem was that Punk, as somebody said, underestimated Mysterio's weight and threw him too high. He then obviously came down with more momentum and just had a bad landing. After the match, Punk was like 'oh shit!' and was like cuddling Rey and everything, lol.

I also struggle to see why he can't use the Anaconda Vice as a part of his normal moveset, it doesn't even need to be a finisher.

It's up to the both wrestlers to pull off the finisher.

Punk should know from his past that he can injure opponents with the GTS. It's up to the opponent to angle themselves so they can land on their feet before Punk's knee makes contact. It's also up to Punk to throw them up high enough so they can land.

Punk vs. Rey last Sunday I actually enjoyed. I don't enjoy Punk matches at all, but that was pretty good because Punk had a believable opponent. If you put Punk vs. JBL or Batista, you know it's bound to suck. It has no chance of being good at all, but him facing Punk made it a little more fair and made alot of good openings for sick moves. Punk's GTS last Sunday was awesome, that would be a sick move for a heavyweight to use just because of the impact, but with Punk being the size he is, that move would kick ass only to smaller guys because he can throw him up instead of lugging his opponent's ass above his head (ala Snitsky) Bottom line, that move shouldn't be used all the time, but still be used. Shouldn't be banned what so ever.

Wouldn't surprise me, or they'll get Punk to be even softer with it.

I don't think they should ban it though. Accidents happen and let's be honest are an occupational hazard in thr wrestling business :D

When noses are getting broken in the entertainment buisness somethings wrong. I know we the fans will always want more and I applaud the realism but looking at it as a proffesional, continuing it could cause hazards and unless all your eggs are in the same basket with the GTS and how well Punk can work, you'd better remove it.

But then again Proffesional Wrestling is absoultely bizzare and the only one who can accurately make that call is Vince Mcmahon. But i'd get rid of it when i'ts happenning often. Or at least limit the usage.

I think it would actually be a good idea for CM Punk to come up with another finisher; perhaps even something as simple as a dragon suplex. However I do think he should leave the Go To Sleep in his repertoire for high-profile matches. And as somebody else noted, the Anaconda Vice should return.

Punk stopped using the Plunge because it fucked up his knees from what I read in an interview with him.

But with the G2S, just because 2 people got "hurt" doesn't mean it should be banned or he should change his finisher. Punk has been doing the move for a year I think now. He's had hundreds of matches in that time, and he probably uses G2S often with the way he's pushed. So 2 hurt wrestlers out of 100+ matches isn't bad at all. It's not as brutal as KENTA's either.

No kidding! And not to mention KENTA's innovated reverse version. :y:

And yeah I could see how jumping off the top ropes and landing on your knees every match to win could take a toll. =/

I just got off the phone with KENTA. He said he'd like the title of this thread to get fucked.

As much as I like Punk and the GTS, I'm sure he can just steal another move from Japan.
