Lol, jk. Don't kid yourself though, he's a great goalie, but like you said, he's not quite as good as the hype. But in Montreal, Toronto or any Canadian city, pretty much noone is.

The National Hockey League came down hard on Dallas Stars superpest Sean Avery Friday, handing him a six-game suspension for making inappropriate public comments prior to the Stars' game in Calgary on Tuesday.

The move is retroactive to Tuesday's game against the Flames, with four more games to be served.

"Mr. Avery has expressed remorse for his recent comments and has sought a professional anger management evaluation," NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said in a league-issued statement. "I will require that he follow through with that process as a condition of his returning to the ice and that he complies with any and all recommendations."

Avery and Stars co-general manager Brett Hull met with Bettman Thursday in New York after being given an indefinite suspension on Tuesday.

Perhaps the most hated man in hockey, Avery made headlines for all the wrong reasons after making disparaging remarks about ex-girlfriend Elisha Cuthbert, the Canadian-born actress currently dating Calgary Flames defenceman Dion Phaneuf.

His comments were strongly condemned by Dallas coach Dave Tippett and owner Tom Hicks.

Avery, who signed a four-year, $15 million deal with the Stars this past summer, has three goals and 10 points in 23 games this season.

He spent the previous 1 1/2 seasons with the New York Rangers and got plenty of attention last spring after using questionable tactics to block the view of New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.

It's not the first has gotten himself into trouble. While with the Los Angeles Kings from 2003 to 2007, Avery publicly criticized management of the Players' Association and NHL director of hockey operations Colin Campbell, made disparaging remarks about French Canadians wearing visors and was involved in heated arguments with Anaheim Ducks broadcaster Brian Hayward and Kings assistant coach Mark Hardy.

Should have been more IMO. Not because what he said "sloppy seconds", was so bad, but because of the way he did it (calling the media to him for it) and that he has done this so many times.
Oh well, even when his suspension is over, I doubt he will play for a while. Dallas said they don't even want him back.

And for those who care, the Devils are tied 1-1 after 2 as they look to get another win this time against the Montreal Canadiens. Price and Clemmenson have been playing extremely well on both ends of the ice, now lets see how it all finishes.

My prediction: Devils win after Elias and Parise score to make it a 4-2 victory.

Sean Avery is a joke. He acts like a tough guy but when the other teams enforcer has something to say to him he just stares at the ref and acts like a doll. What a tool, disgrace to hockey. This is why the instigator rule and many other new nhl rules needs to get thrown out the door, Betmann and Campbell are clowns. There will be more Sean Avery's in the new NHL and it's pathetic.

Hockey use to be something so sacred and good, where the characters of men would shine and all that shit you heard in school about teamwork, hardwork and morales all that good stuff was displayed. Sitting down and watching it no matter how shitty or amazing your day would ALWAYS complete your day.

Now it's just all about the money, performing for your paycheque. Guys will turn coats at the first sign of a bigger cheque and why wouldn't they, they're forced to. If they don't leave someone else will and even if you were the guy who wanted to keep the chemistry together someone else will go and take that cheque you turned down then your numbers will dwindle the media starts attacking you then you're traded because the god damn cap can't be paying you if your not performing

omgwtfbbq. Colin's right. Back in the old days before Gay Bettman, hockey was a great sport. It's going downhill now.

Oh and if I had the decision, Avery would be out for the entire season + playoffs. I hate fucktards like him thinking he's an enforcer but really he's just a bully on skates.
