That's of course the way they are building up Cenas return. He is apparently "spoilin for a fight", etc.
But this time, instead of a big, thought out thread, I just wanna make this one as simple and plain as possible.
What are your thoughts on Cena's return?
How will you react to him? Will you be glad he's back, and add to the starpower of wwe, and have some good feuds, or will you be wishing he was gone longer? What is your initial thoughts on how he returns?

Well, it's a toss up. On the one side, Cena is a workhorse and busts his ass for the WWE (at least, that's what I hear during his return promos). I certainly wouldn't mind seeing Cena/Batista II sometime down the line. However, something needs to be done to freshen up his character. A heel turn could be just what he needs. For example, he loses his match at Survivor Series due to interferance from Batista (who, as of right now, as diddly squat at Survivor Series). The following night, have the two confront each other and basically work out a main event match for later that night. Towards the end of the match, have Jericho come down and take out the ref. Then Cena/Jericho double team on Batista until...ready?....JBL runs down and saves Batista. The show ends with Jericho and Cena on one side, and JBL and Batista on the other.

Personally, I like this scenerio because both JBL and Cena are in desperate nee of some changes. I know it's a long shot.....but I'd like to see it happen.

^Well, I was kinda with you until the JBL part. On the one hand, it COULD work, cause if JBL and Cena's history against eachother. But Batista has bad blood (in the storyline) with JBL as well, so the wwe would have to hope we have no memory, lol.

As for me (seeing as I created thethread and didn't rreally give an opinion), I don't think he needs to turn heel. If he can just return and have some of te attitude he had from late 2004-early 20006, it would be great.

Let's face it, it would look awful if he went completely back to being a rapper now. He can't all of a sudden come back with throwback jerseys, a big chain, sideways hat, and talking with a phony accent. It just won't work.
But if he goes back to how he was in 2005, where he still can wear his denim shorts, along with either a baggy shirt or a jersey, and just, without being a rapper, has some attitude, and has an attitude like that, where he goes to the beat of his own drum, that could be great.
It'd be an eay transistion too.

And since his return is against Jericho (and they feuded in 2005, when Cena got Y2J fired) it would be easy for him to go back and resume the character he had back then.

That would really make Cena fresh IMO.

Yeah id like to so Cena come back with and edgy attitude not full heel turn/Rapper. But just some ruthless aggression lol. I hope they do freshen up his character. I miss Cena and Edge the pair of them add something to the rosters and are missed when they are gone, even if you don't like them they are still very much needed and missed IMO.

I see you people lack faith. WWE has showed they can morph a character into something different without making it turn from heel to face or face to heel. They did it with Y2J, Jeff Hardy, Edge, Randy Orton and Brian Kendrick.

To me however, John Cena will not and doesn't need to be changed right from the bat in his debut. Unless something extraordinary happens, the freshness of his return will do just enough to keep him interesting for the remaining of 2008. Then, only then, in the build up to Royal Rumble, I would think of a change.

Imo he will return and be screwed out of the victory at Survivor Series. Then he will get all pissy and will get one more match at Armageddon, possibly a gimmick match. He wins when Batista screws Jericho. Afterwards, Tista invokes his rematch clause from when he lost the title as he hasnt been allowed to use it yet. This sets up John Cena vs Batista II at Wrestlemania 25 in which Cena retains the title in the end. If they dont want that match done again, then Orton can win the rumble and make it a triple threat.

A change in attitude and a slight gimmick alter would do wonders for Cena. However, I am not sure whether the WWE would run with that. Cena is a really big idol for the littluns, and I don't know if Vince would believe that the kids would be into him with a badass persona, even though they would be. VKM thinks that the kids can be more entertained by a goof spray painting "JBL is poopy" than a charachter with attitude that all age groups can relate to.

I think everyone wants Cena back love him or hate him. John Cena kicks ass to be a fan of his and it kicks ass to boo the hell out of him. It's a win-win situation come Survivor Series IMO. If Jericho beats Cena, that will be a new one for Cena...losing a title match one on one. If Cena wins, well then we see Cena World HW Champ for the first time, that could be cool. Let alone a possible spinner belt :)

I don't mind Cena's return, I just think he needs to stay away from the World Title. I've had enough of John Cena world title runs so it would be nice to see him stay away from the title picture for a while. At least until wrestlemania. Other than that, I am actually looking forward to his return. He adds a certain excitement to the WWE product and its going to be great to see him back

personally I'm so syked for his return. I cant wait to see what happens. Personally again lol, I want him to bring back is rapper gimmick as well. His whole badass U.S. Title side on SD years ago was amazing. Cena was WELL in his prime on smackdown... I would love to see him as champ once again soon, but give him a while though... push for Wrestlemania, then give him a title, other than that....... GO CENA!!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!

I'm sorry, but all in all, it makes no sense to keep your top star away from the belt that long. WWE tried to do so from Backlash to Night of Champions, and it certainly didn't work that well.

Let's face it, Cena will and all and all deserves to main event and be in championship matches, any other place, if it isnt a match like Tista vs Cena, is under him.

What could do wonders to Cena is lose some of those title matches cleanly, that way, some people will lose the perception that he never loses.

If Cena loses at Survivor Series, it definitely won't be clean. Orton or Batista or JBL or even HBK might screw up the entire match resulting in Cena still not getting that damn belt.

which would freaking suck.... ^we had this conversation earlier at lunch man... the opponent rarely wins an important match (like a title shot, a gimmick match, a specialty match) in their hometown

Cena, as much as I love the guy, and would love to see him back as champ come Monday of next week after whooping Y2J's ass Sunday, I don't wanna get my hopes up. I doubt they'll give him the title this soon, though imo it would be smart to boost up some ratings. Throw Orton in the mix, put him as a face (PLEASE!) and see where it goes for a while. I bet none of that will happen, but in order to get the WWE back on track with ratings and what not, what I mentioned or something along those lines needs to happen ASAP

You're right, it's much better to see Batista have rematch after rematch.
