Awesome Kong, one of the focal parts of TNA's Knockout division recently got heat from management when her contract expired and she tried to play hardball and get a pay rise. TNA out right refused and gave her a verbal bashing for even considering it. It is believed she renewed at a similar deal as she originally signed, although her renewal is not 100% confirmed; they may still be in negotiations

Despite drawing consistently high ratings (many times the highest on Impact) the women make less than the male mid carders.

The feeling is that because Gail Kim has yet to show up in WWE they have less "well I'll go to WWE instead" bargaining power.

TNA absolutely has to keep Awesome Kong under contract. Not only is she the Knockout Champion, but she is the main part of the womens division. She is the one who separates the Knockouts from the Divas. I also think the women deserve more money, they are one of the main draws and they put just as much work as the men.

Thoughts?

The Knockout division would be nothing without Kong. Take her away and who will carry the rest of the roster. Yeah there is a few other girls with good talent but Kong sets them apart from the rest!

That is why TNA should up her pay...she deserves it!

It's ridiculous that TNA refuses to pay the highest rated division on the roster what they're worth. This penny-pinching will be the downfall of the Knockouts, and expect a big hit to the ratings for it.

No matter how good she is or draws or hold up the knockout div. If they do it for one then they will have everyone running in there asking for pay rises. I don't disagree she is worth the money, But if they give into certain stars demands then you have a roster trying to pull the same shit. Its a vicious circle.

Awesome Kong would have no 'Well I'll go to WWE' bargaining power anyway. And we all know why.

Yeah...Cause Vince can't use her for Eye Candy lol.

But yeah Kong and all of the Knockout Division deserve better pay because I mean really they usely have the highest rated segments on the show and put on great matches.

There is no way she hasn't resigned...to speculate she hasn't is stupid....she wouldn't be the champion if she hadn't resigned.

This pisses me off in TNA, the knockouts draw just as much as the guys if not more. The fact they wouldn't pay Kim more and now Kong is disgraceful.

Pure sexism.

I would think Dixie Carter would have more of a handle on this.

The fact of the matter is that if TNA is to succeed, the women aren't going to be the focus of the show, nor the highest rated. So to people bitching that she's champion of the top rating division (Roxxi, mainly), you should realise that the knockout's getting the highest rating is a problem.

With that said, TG is right.

^ The Divas wrestling mentality. The only people who will tune out of a women's wrestling match that is booked the same as men and involves equally talented wrestlers are pathetic sexist men insecure about their sexuality, and the ever increasing popularity of the Knockouts coupled with how much the crowds loved the Beth/Melina angle is proof that those idiots are on the decline. "Lmfao RLFB is calling me sexist I'm gonna write a scathing reply right now." Well before you do that and we just repeat the cycle we've gone through a million times: if a women's wrestling match is given an engaging and serious storyline on par with a men's match preceding it, and involves wrestlers that are equally talented and have gimmicks that can be taken seriously - basically, you could swap out the women for men and the story wouldn't need altering - why would you tune out? What in this wrestling match with intriguing backstory and talented athletes disinterests you? There's only one difference in this match, and that's what's between their legs. If that's not sexist insecure immaturity, they must have changed the definitions of those words last night.

And furthermore, I think we can all agree that a lot less people know about TNA than WWE. More than in the past, of course, but if you ask a casual wrestling fan, he won't know what TNA is. So don't act like the fact that TNA isn't getting RAW's average of 3.1 is because only a third of the people who know about TNA watch it. No, it's because maybe a 1.5 rating of people tops actually know about it. For the Knockouts to top the ratings of that group of people, getting 1.22 on a show that got 1.08, that's equivalent to a WWE main event quality matchup. (I saw "main event quality" because the main event quality matches are seldom in the main event anymore.) Women's wrestling taken seriously can be and is a draw, the Knockouts are proof, and who wants to take bets on how long it'll take Kaedon to come disagree?

I don't remember saying all that. I just said that its obvious she has resigned. She wouldn't be the champion otherwise.
