Is Smackdown short on faces?

Lately, I've been trying to figure out what would make Smackdown more interesting, because I barely watch it nowadays. I noticed that there really aren't that many credible faces on the show. Either they're a upper midcarder/main eventer, or a comedy jobber. Here's the list I have of the faces on SD.

Jeff Hardy
Jesse
Scotty Goldman
Funaki
R Truth
Super Crazy
Triple H
Undertaker
Jimmy Yang

so out of the around 25 guys on the SD brand, only 10 are faces. 6/10 don't look like they're going anywhere for a long time, and won't even make a difference in the midcard. 3 of them are in the Main Event, and Hardy has already feuded with HHH, and Taker is doing his own thing for a while. R Truth is the only credible midcarder there, someone who actually looks like he could be US Champion.

So, what do you guys think about this? Should they turn any of the heels face, bring in some more credible characters in the WWE, or give better pushes? Will this make SD less boring?

With the way WWE books Smackdown! I think it will always bore me. It just seems like they go out there, go through the motions, and head to the back. Match 1, 2, 3, 4, and end the show. Its bland, way too basic, and nothing that I look forward to watching every week. I don't think it has anything to do with the number of babyfaces on the show, you make a good point about how they need to add some more, but even if they do, I don't think it will contribute to the excitement of Smackdown!

I guess it's up to opinions, but SD is easily the best show around.

Umaga should return as a face, same for Mr. Kennedy, and that will even the score between heels and faces

Yea Smackdown is the best which is the only reason I'm mad I can't see it.If this was last year I would not even give a crap about it but now I do.

But really I don't see it being the faces...all thought it would be cool if maybe Hurricane is face when he returns..or has he returned yet and is heel..hmm

Smackdown has gotten so boring and bland to me, I can't keep my attention to it at all. It might just be me because I'm not the biggest HHH and Undertaker fan, but the face side of things isn't too exciting. Most of the up and comers are heels, and I won't watch an episode just because Ron Killings or Shelton Benjamin is on it.

I can't get SD so idk if he is back...Last I saw he was returing but idk whats going on now.

I said Helms needs to come back as a face unless he has already returned as a heel.

Helms looks from his promos that he will return as face. Kennedy will return as a face and Umaga should come back as a tweener. Also, you forgot Carlito and Primo Colon.

Umaga as a face, are you guys insane? Unless he has a manager, that would fail hard.

Helms & Kennedy are both upper mid-card faces who are out injured, so those will boost the ranks upon their respective returns.

But I think the best idea would be to push Scotty Goldman dammit. Everyone gets a monster push on ECW and he gets to job on Smackdown. no:

Colt Cabana, Shelton Benjamin, MVP, Gregory Helms and Edge could all be Breakout faces if pushed properly...the bad news is 1 is already a top heel, 1 has been out for a year and a half and the other 3 the WWE is simply being stupid in not legitimately pushing. no:

^^^Surely to push MVP or Shelton would take them OUT of the midcard? As 'dry' as the ME is right now, it is somewhat balanced.



As for the 'problem area', turning some of the midcarder heels to face will only reverse what is simply a the tail end of temporary problem caused by injuries.

I think Kennedy returnning should re-dress the balance successfully. Assuming WWE or the fans haven't somewhat lost faith in him, I can see him getting a decent amount of TV time when he comes back.

Add a Face Helms to the mix and you've got a midcard which will consist of:

Faces: Hardy (Even now he's no bonafide ME-er), Kennedy, Helms & R-Truth.
Heels: MVP, Koslov, Shelton, The BK, Umaga (when he returns)



Which IMO is pretty damn good!

That wouldn't be that great either, They need to push Shelton or MVP into ME because in your scenario it would just be Trips and Edge and Taker only in ME and nobody wants to see that every month, TBK is too early to turn but the other guys have been heel forever and a fresh face move could really shoot them up the ladder. And to stop jobbing them every week. >_>

I'm thinking more along the lines of a Mid-Card...

Face: Scotty Goldman, R-Truth, Kennedy, Helms,

Heel: TBK, Kozlov, Umaga, Kizarny (?), Khali

Just move some ECW guys such as Morrison or Bourne or Burke (?) to fill out the MC could be solid.

As 'dry' as the ME is right now, it is somewhat balanced.

You chose to ignore this... Nor bear in mind that we haven't seen a decent representation of HHH v Edge yet, nor have we had Taker V HHH.... Those alone can see us through 'til mania. And that's without considering Big Show, Khali and maybe an odd appearance form Koslov or MVP (all as heels).

Has it not escaped your notice that the best fueds run for months on end? (E.G. This year alone, Taker/Edge & Hbk/Y2J)


Unless HHH is gonna drop the title (which I don't see happening, possibly until around WM) then we don't need any more ME faces for the time being... Especially as your way of acheiving this would be to try and turn a great Heel character like MVP and Shelton (who has proven time and time again that regardless of how decent his matches may be he can't get completely over)... The occasional appearance from Hardy will do if absolutley necessary.

It would be good to see Goldman get SOME kind of push, but IMO right now given the imminent midcard that I laid out above (which would require NO heel/face changes), there's no room in the midcard for anymore people to get pushed into it... Anyone that is will end up being jobbed again once new guys return from injury... End result those that took the losses to get them there are the only ones who find themselves in a different (and more NEGATIVE) position.


Re: Burke... Yeah, why the hell not, but Miz & Morrison; no. They are the best, and most entertaining, thing on ECW.

This may sound stupid but I see "The Brian Kendrick" with Ezekial after a feud with MVP the bigger heel will turn face and beat him. It may take time btu I see Kendrick doing so.
