Ian Kinsler and Dustin Pedroia are the two best 2nd basemen in baseball when it comes to fielding and hitting. These guys battled for the same spot at Arizona State, which Pedroia won, Kinsler transfered to Missouri where he had tons of success. Both went through the minor league system quickly and immedately made an impact upon their debut. Kinsler is the all around better hitter, but Pedroia has the better glove up the middle. Kinsler is the best leadoff hitter in baseball, and Pedroia is known for his fielding and clutch hitting.

Kinsler's stats -
Games - 121 (Currently on the DL...sports hernia )
Hits - 165
2B - 41
3B - 4
HR - 18
RBI - 71
SB - 26 (...out of 27 attempts...he'd be 26 for 26 if they didn't count pickoffs as a stolen base attempt)
OBP - .375
SLG - .517
BA - .319

Pedroia's stats -
Games - 127
Hits - 170
2B - 40
3B - 2
HR - 14
RBI - 64
SB - 12
OBP - .363
SLG - .479
BA - .318

Kinsler obviously has the better stats of the two, but these aren't defensive stats. Kinsler has a great number of RBI's for a leadoff hitter. Pedroia has more hits, and they're about tied for Doubles, and Batting Average. So who do you think is the better of the two?

Dustin "Grand Slam" Pedroia

This. Granted, I'm a Sox fan, so my pick is a bit biased. Its not just about the stats. Pedroia brings toughness, and passion to the Red Sox, that's why I like him over Kinsler.

Also... Lol, Texas Rangers.

lol at the Rangers?...they're barely under .500 when there are many MANY more teams that are worse.

Nobody said there weren't teams that are worse. Just saying that they still suck in general.

I'm almost 100% that none of these people have ever seen Kinlser play...they say Pedroia plays a fast pace style, yet I've watched both play and without bias I can say that Kinsler is more fast paced. And Kinsler doesn't show passion?...he's playing on a team that's 3 games under .500, they're 16 games back and they're still in 2nd place, and he still plays as hard as he can on every play...without bias, I don't care if I liked the Rangers or not....Kinsler is the better player imo...if they were traded (Kinsler to Boston, Pedroia to Texas) I would say the same thing.

:smh at the Rangers being a small market team

i gotta say kinsler is obviously better but i hate the red sox (sometimes) and i hate the rangers (sometimes) so idc much about either of them. pedroia is a bigger name just cause hes on a better team...

The only reason the Rangers suck (and yes, I admit the Rangers still suck, but they're doing good this season compared to previous seasons) isn't becuase of the playing ability...it's becuase of injuries and the lack of teamwork. The only people on the entire team who show teamwork is Kinsler and Young. The Rangers have the best players in the Majors (Kinsler, Young, Hamilton, Padilla, Bradley, Davis, Blalock, and Murphy)...but they don't work as a team...and that's what's hurting them.

But back on topic....

I have seen both play a number of times. Pedroia more, ut I've still seen both quite alot. Pedroia gets my vote, because even though the stats are equal, when both go up to the plate, Pedroia strikes more fear into me as a fan of the team playing against him.
Pedroia is better IMO.

Pedroia leads the AL in batting average. FOR ANY PLAYER. He went like 10-12 against the White Sox this past weekend as well. The dude is a beast. Kinsler is good, but still can't touch Pedroia by any stretch.

Kinsler would probably be leading in Batting Average again if he didn't have a hernia :)roflmao:   ) but hopefully Pedroia keeps this up and gets the Red Sox into the Playoffs.....
