I'm talking on a per-show basis on the indy circuit. See, I have dreams of being a wrestling manager, and I understand that I'm "paying my dues" by making very little, but I don't really care about living large yet. What I care about is living at all. I still have to pay the bills, so what kind of per-show salaries can I expect to make on the indy circuit?

none. I wouldnt expect much at all. Your not really doing any real work most of the time. You may get like 20$, but nothing you could live off of. I'm assumign someone like a Larry Sweeney or Lacey who are established characters/wrestlers make a regular wrestler salary. But a basic manager probably wouldnt make much at all.

Then how do managers who are just starting off become established, if they can't live off the entry level salaries.

Get a real job....I'd say most indy wrestlers have real jobs too.

What kind of job can one get that will allow them to travel the way a wrestling talent needs to to get from one show to another?

Depands how good you are.

Face Manager = Gay
Heel Manager = $$$

You have to show your promoter & the fans your skills. Hardest part about being a Heel, is why should they hate you? The fans have to hate you more then they hate Joey joe Joe.

Can I get some numbers? I know numbers have already been given, but you make it seem as if I can actually make a full-time living off of managing.

Also, what about a referee? The main reason I don't want to be a wrestler is because of the pain. Referees take bumps, but not as frequently as wrestlers do, and they're rarely injured legitimately. I can take the occasional bump, just not fifty of them per night like a wrestler does.

Also, I have glasses. Will that hinder my ability to referee matches? What if I switch to contacts?

Tbh I have no idea about the money, but you have to have good charisma I think to get any good money.

I can understand the not wanting to get hurt thing lol.

And yes, I think you would be better off with contacts in this case. Glasses would be knocked off because you are constantly getting into position for reffing.

The problem is, I've tried contacts before, and my eyes aren't sticky enough to keep them in. All I have to do is nod too hard and they'll pop out.

As for being hated, there's a whole list of things that almost always work.

Insulting the fans, the more tabooed the insult, the better.
distracting the referee while my client low blows.
Hitting faces with canes and crutches when the ref isn't looking.
sicking my client on anyone who annoys me in the slightest.
Pulling the ref out of the ring when the face is about to win.

Look at Jim Mitchell, Raisha Saeed, Paul Heyman. They all used those tactics 80% of the time, and they're some of the most notorious managers of today. Sure, there are certain things you have to do and things you have to do a certain way, but that's why they have classes for it, isn't it?

Another thing that you definitely need to be good at is promos. No male manager is ever anything without promo abilities. Heelish tactics help, but talking trash well is vital imo.

Your not going to be working 365, and you get your bookings in advance.

No offense. But if you asking how much money you'll make, thats the first step towards downfall. Indy wrestling isn't about the money. You almost have to know someone too, to be a manager. I'd check out local indys and talk to people there. Again, if your doing this for money, your in the wrong business. It takes years and years just to establish yourself.

Referee's do make more money than managers too. Thats not a bad route, to get your foot in the dorr, but you gotta know someone just about.

You're missing the point, Montana. I'm not interested in living in mansions, staying in five star hotels, and eating caviar. If that's what I wanted, THEN I'd be "doing it for the money." I'm willing to sleep in my car because I can't afford a hotel, but hey, I have to at least make more money than it costs me in gasoline to get there, right? Then about four dollars a day for a couple of two-dollar meals at McDonalds (one burger and one small drink), and that's all I need, but twenty dollars? There's just no way.

Does anyone have any numbers on what refs make?

Female managers make more because they give blow jobs.

Just ask Lita.

Do you got wax in your ears!

Trust me, you can't make a living not working, and being a indy manager ( TO START) . I know wrestlers/staff for like 5 indies here in det (1 in chi) Three of those, dont even pay the wrestlers! Yes, they are small indys, but thats where you start. IF they arent paying the wrestlers, they sure as hell aren't paying the manager. Genreally the manager is a friend of a wrestler. The one indy that does pay its westlers, it all depends on how much they make from a show. 20$ is a good takehome for that indy. THe one in CHicago is more like 35-40 is a good pot for a wrestler. Depending if there 1-2 referees, i'd say generally if its one ref, they make the same as wrestler. If two, it gets divided. But like i said, its all about the take home. And again, your not working 365. Some indy run shows once every two months.

Do you really think you can live off 20$ a day???? You sure hell aren't going to be working 7 days a week. So lets say you get lucky and get 3 bookings at 20$. THats 60$ you've made for the week. You got medical insurance? Car insurance? Cell Phone bill? Gas? 2 Dollar value meals a day? COme on, Don't be a jackass.

YOu keep asking the question, and i keep telling you the answer, you dont want to hear.

Let me ask this: If I asked them nicely, would a typical promotion be willing to pay me in under-the-table cash instead of taxable income? I receive SSI for my vision (not just anyone with glasses can get it; your naked vision must be HORRIBLE), but it's penalized whenever I make taxable income. However, under-the-table cash doesn't count. If I can make it all under-the-table, I can afford to work for twenty dollars a day because my extra 637 per month will total up to *does calculations* $1197, which I can live off of.

So what are the chances I can be paid under-the-table?
