I know we've seen A TON, of rumors about Cena going back to his rapper gimmick and turning heel.
But tonight on Raw, I thought of something else.
It seems like Cena was fresh again. Firstly, the crowd was way in his hand for that opening promo. That helps because he wont have to be heel, and his popularity may start to grow if he keeps up with this style.
We also saw a bit of a different Cena. At times lately, most of Cenas promos are about being a fighter an doing whats right. But tonight we saw glimpses of his past. For one, he started gettng some chicks like in the old days, even picking up Mickie James (lucky bastard). And also, his promo style was different. Instead of the "Im here to fight" promo, he went like before, randomly interupting and coming out to disrespect Rega, and teeaching him how to respect. And it seemed liked the fans liked it.:y: His promo also had that part where he read from the fans, and it seemed like something from 2004-2005, which is good. I was waiting for him to burst into a freestyle, lol.
Its worth a not that instead of that damn salute, he wen tback to the word life taunt!

So what do you think, do you tink we could be seeing him go back to having more attitude without being heel!
And if hes goes back to being a badass/maybe rapper, would you rather it face or heel?

I agree It would be interesting to see him heel but I don't think that would happen I think its either Face with no Rapper gimmick or Face with Rapper Gimmick and well I prefer what the roomers are saying I liked him better that way and I hope the WWE don't change their mind about this.

I don't know but that was the LOUDEST and BEST face Cena pop i've heard in YEARS. I didn't hear a single boo, and the crowd went fucking WILD when he came out and interrupted Regal.

IDK how they can turn him heel right now. We'll see.

It was great to see the John Cena style of 2005 and 2006 back on RAW in 2008. You're right his style was different in his opening promo not the old "I'm going to beat the asses, win the championships" and all that crap. It was his old "sarcastic and funny commenting and whipping ass on people" style and I sure did love it, the crowd did love it and they need to continue with this.

It would be horrible if at this time, they try and experiment with a heel character of John Cena because now the fans cheer for him and as Christian said, the loudest Cena pop we've heard in years...

Also... Cena vs. Orton....who dominated most of the match....Orton.

I found it hilarious how you heard every kid and girl in the place "LET'S GO CENA" followed by "LET'S GO ORTON" from every other person in the arena...lmao...very TNA.

well it would be better at the moment for Cena to back to his rapping gimmick and all. and a heel definately. maybe then he can get some respect back and then turn face and work on wrestling good matches. it would be a long process but i think it may work.

and also onto my next point:
Cena does not carry the matches, normally he needs a main eventer to help him. HHH, Orton, EDGE all these are the people who have had OK matches with him. Cena cant wrestle but he can rap.

Sure the crowd were all for him in the opening promo. It did have the feel of the Cena a few years back. However when it came to the match at the end, it almost went back to what we're used to, women/kids cheering Cena, everyone else booing Cena/cheering elsewhere (Orton).

Until he makes his arsenal of moves look convincing he'll never be respected by 'everyone else'. What was the deal with his super-human stopping of Randy's foot? Seriosuly. I was pleased with Cena's style of promo at the beginning and it worked with the crowd, if he can sharpen up his offence I believe Cena can be much more respected.

It was a step in the right direction for Cena.

Lol Im one of the biggest HHH fans out there, but he isnt that great in the ring. So I wouldnt say he carries his matches with Cena.HHH also has a repetitive moveset: Punh, Punch, Kic, Suck it, Irish whip, high knee, punch, spinebuster pedigree...
And Orton is Mr.Chinlock himself, so he doesnt carry any matches. No, Cena isnt a complete wrestler, but since when did that matter... Nobody gies a shit, look at SDCSA (worst moveset EVER), HHH, Batista, BigShow.... Lol, most ME'ers arent amazing in the ring anyways.

I dont think the opening promo worked because it was "old school". I believe it was far from it. There wasnt a hint of Rapper Cena in it. It was that the fans hate Regal more than they hate Cena. Cena did what a face was sposed to do, he told Regal what the fans wish they could get up in his face and say. They "the majority" would like to tell Regal "you no good limey fuck, quit turning the lights off". And lets not get started on how "trendy" it is to hate Cena.

^ and I totally agree. When I said '...like Cena a few years back' it wasn't in reference to the good reaction Cena got. I was just suggesting how it had that feel of his promos a few years ago. Just bad wording on my behalf :1:

I don't think it's necessarily Cena's moveset that's the problem, it's how sloppily he executes them. Most his moves are unconvincing. Triple H on the other hand, has a similar NUMBER of moves to Cena, but his moves are much more convincing. Cena's punches are some of the most fake looking manoeuvres out there, during a match Cena is often noticeably booed when he's performing a series of punches.

I personally think if Cena tightens up the quality of his moveset, he will be more widely accepted by those who jeer him week after week.

Agreed on that one...he tends to be extremely sloppy at times...and that top rope fameasser/legdrop shit was completely missed on Orton last night.

yeah i agree Cena move set is not bad most wrestler only have a few moves, But its the way they use and execute the moves they have. Cena is sloppy at times and so his moves don't look as good as they could. As someone said above Trips has a limited move set but he has got his move set down to near perfect his moves look strong and actually looks like he is battering and hurting the other person he hardly ever fucks up or looks sloppy.(and i said hardly ever messes up before HHH haters start listing any time he has messed up).

I actually think that sometimes when i watch Cena he worked his moves better when he was prototype
