Welcome to the 39th edition of the column that is sure to piss you off in some way or another (and I wouldn’t have it any other way) The No Smark Zone. This week its here, the monster, the mother of all features on the NZ, Fact or Fiction-iction iction iction iction iction iction. This week on Fact or Fiction iction iction iction iction iction we have a few new members on the panel. First, we have the very knowledgeable CMS. Also back this time is Soulpower and HHHForever. Making his debut in the Zone is Randy Orton’s Boner, who just loves the cock! And finally we have the IWFs hottest Diva since Roxxi Leveau Fanboy (hey its rough around here, what can I say?) Y2Jasmine! And then there’s me. Now, lets get on to……Fact or Fiction iction iction iction iction iction iction.

Backlash was, without a doubt, the worst WWE PPV of the year.

Soulpower- Fact:The Rumble was one of the better ones that WWE has put on. And wheter you like to admit or not, the return (IE:Cena) during the Rumble match WAS indeed a big deal. NWO had the two Chamber matches, Big Show's return and the start of the Floyd-Show feud. Wrestlemania is Wrestlemania, so Backlash is the worse show by default.

CMS- Push: A little bit of both. MVP vs Matt Hardy delivered, almost 6 months late, but it delivered and we got Hardy’s long expected victory. Both title main events and HBK vs Batista were solid bouts. Divas tag match was at least decent and Khali vs Big Show, well, let’s skip that shall we. That way Backlash seems like a good PPV, however, it do comes in the short end of the stick when you compare it with Royal Rumble, No Way Out and Wrestlemania. So, while Backlash was a good PPV, comparing it to the level of past PPVs, it isn’t as solid.

HHHForever- Fiction. I obviously loved the main event. Not only did it kind of throw us a swerve because I don't think a lot of people thought HHH would win, but on top of that that match was really, really good imo. Batista-HBK disapointed me, but I had high expections and it was still a solid match. Undertaker-Edge was good and the taking out of Edge was good because it set up banning "that, that submission move."

Randy Orton’s Boner- Fiction. I didn't see it so I can't comment very much, but from reading the results and the individual viewpoints worst PPV of the year seems like a bit of a stretch.

Y2Jasmine- FICTION: Backlsh wasnt the worst PPV. It wasnt the best one either but when I tried to recall other PPVs main events, such as NWO I couldnt even remember WHAT the main event was. So even though it may have not been the BEST PPV it certainly wasnt the worst. Not to mention the fact that there is 7 more PPVs this year that may be worse than Backlash.

Kaedon- Fact: Kinda what SP said, it was worst by default, but it wasn’t just that. To me, every PPV had something about it that just slapped me in the face. I was left in awe after every PPV this year until Backlash. It was missing something, I don’t know what. But if I had to guess Id say it was the match quality. None of the matches were bad, but 3, at the most were something other than your normal PPV match.

-The WWE are not using CM Punk the right way since he won Money In The Bank.

Soulpower- Fact:Other than the victories against Jericho and Matt Hardy at the KoTR, what has he done? NOTHING. He's had some good matches, but he always comes out on the losing end. The worse part was having Punk look like a bitch against Chuck Palumbo. Think about this... The MITB winner couldn't beat perennial mid to low-carder Chuck Palumbo.

CMS- Fact. But in all honesty, CM Punk hasn’t been well used since, uhmm, well, never. One could make the case that CM Punk wasn’t the way to go of the WWE in the MITB, and he was just a last minute substitute of Jeff Hardy, but still, jobbing to Chuck Palumbo and William Regal isn’t exactly what a man that could very well win the World Title should be doing. Of course, CM Punk has had his good moments by putting good matches with Edge, but still, Punk seems as a glorified jobber now and at this point I wouldn’t be shocked if he cashed MITB and lose the match, or worst, cash it in the ECW Title.

HHHForever- Push. Right now it appears that they are using him improperly, but the WWE's booking has been fantastic this year as far as I'm concerned. There's a couple things I like about this. I have absoluely no clue what they're going to do, I have no idea what brand he's going to use it on or when he's going to use it. I like that. Also, and this is just purely speculation, I think that this could possibly turn to a heel turn for Punk. Think about it, he keeps losing, he gets frustrated and then he's like I've had enough of this shit so he cashes in on a face after they have a tough match and wins the belt. Purely speculation on my part, but I think it's a possibility.

Randy Orton’s Boner- Fiction. Whine, whine, whine. The whining is going to intensify further when Punk loses his MITB match too, but I guarantee you he'll come out of it more over then ever.

Y2Jasmine- FICTION: Id say that the WWE have NEVER used CM Punk correctly before now. He was stuck on ECW having the same match against Morrison and then Chavo over and over. Ever since he won MITB, he has been appearing on every brand, against numerous opponents and it seems now that they are going to finally take the time to build him up into a feud correctly.

Kaedon- Fact: I wouldn’t say the WWE has NEVER used Punk correctly but now, they are pretty much shitting on him. Losing to Edge, William Regal, and Matt Hardy; these are acceptable because these are guys who are accomplished veterans when compared to Punk. But Chuck fucking Palumbo? Are you kidding me?

-The new unpredictability of the of the WWE for the past few weeks, Regal winning the King Of The Ring, Taker being stripped, and the endings on ECW and Raw, is a nice change of pace from the usual predictability of the usual programming.

Soulpower- Fiction:Its a change, but its not a good one. Ratings have continued to go down and to be honest, promising big matches and then not delivering on that (Orton vs HHH and Orton vs Punk) can only hurt WWE in the long run.

CMS- Fact. While I am not Regal’s biggest fan, and I want him anywhere near a main event, I always thought he could be doing more, and this push he seems to be getting now as a crazed authority is a long time coming. Hell, it managed to get him over past midcard jobber level now. The Adamle thing seems to be going into a bizarre heel turn, a unusual thing for a broadcaster and not seen since Paul Heyman in 2001. Personally I like it, although I do not enjoy what to me it seems to be a bad announcer gimmick. Taker being stripped, well, it was unpredictable, and a change for usual. In the end, like it or not, WWE has changed its focus of booking and its more unpredictable, now risking to give all of us this endings……anyways, all of this is better than that Deuces Wild shit.

HHHForever- Fact. I couldn't be loving the WWE more right now. I have no idea what is going to happen. This Regal thing is fantastic because he's getting insane heel heat and that is only going to help Kennedy get over as a babyface. The Adamle thing is turning into pure genius. People hate this guy and I think they're turning in just to hear what he'll mess up and hear people make fun of him like they did tonight on ECW. The Taker thing confused the hell out of me and I don't know where that's going, but we'll see. Overall I'm loving the booking of the WWE right now.

Randy Orton’s Boner- Push. A little of column A, and a little of column B. Regal winning KotR pleasantly surprised me, Taker being stripped was interesting and I'm curious to hear where it goes, the endings of ECW and Raw I could do without. I know that the WWE produces TV shows, and ending on a blackout cliffhanger might work for other TV shows (see: The Sopranos) but not in wrestling. As to ECW, nobody gives a shit about Mike Adamle so that failed before it even started.

Y2Jasmine- FACT: As wrestling fans, alot of us were unsatisfied with the predicatability that the WWE was continuously shoving at us. The new tactics they have been using lately not only is a relief from the same old tired methods of the past year or two, but I also see tons of possible angles and storylines opened up because of this change. Whether or not the WWE uses these to the best advantage of course, remains to be seen.

Kaedon: Push- I like what is going on over on Raw. Randy Orton retaining at Mania when NO ONE and I mean NO ONE gave him a shot in hell. Those 8% who voted for him were stoned. (I’m looking at you ROB) And then we get Regal winning the KOTR out of nowhere and now taking on this persona of a megalomaniacal bastard. Its great. I don’t care what anyone says, cutting off the lights is a great way to get heat, and I’m surprised it hasn’t been done before. On ECW, I don’t know because I haven’t been watching. And on SD, I don’t know. I don’t see why they took the belt off Taker. I mean it IS definitely a shock, but I don’t see where its going. If it doesn’t go anywhere, I will be fucking pissed though.

-A huge mistake is being made by the breaking up of Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch as the WWE is short on tag teams as it is.

Soulpower- Fiction: This is based on personal preference (Not a big fan of the team). I think that both Murdoch and Cade have the potential to be singles stars. Cade is someone that has the look and the ability to be a main eventer, meanwhile Murdoch could be an anchor in the mid-card for years to come.

CMS- Fiction. WWE is not short on teams, WWE just don’t want to push the tag team division. Lance Cade and Murdoch are already a successful team, but are already on a level where as tag competitors can’t go any longer. They have faced virtually every tag team on Raw and held the titles. Now, Lance Cade is a big guy, biotype Vince loves and he will be pushed into IC Title picture ratherly quickly. Murdoch, he is talented, and could be pushed in a Harley Race, Stan Hansen like type. Both seem to have a future in singles competition, not to be said the same as tag team, where they are now lower even than Carlito and Santino.

HHHForever- Fiction. Breaking them up is a good idea. Cade has the ability to be a decent mid card talent. There are actually some decent tag teams out there, they just aren't being used properly. This whole breakup is very interesting to see how they're going about it and also these two have been together forever. I think it was about time for them to split up anyway.

Randy Orton’s Boner- Push: Again, fact and fiction, or more like the ideal and reality. They're a great tag team, but the WWE doesn't care about tag teams so it was inevitable. Just as long as Murdoch comes out of this being a star (stop singing) I'm happy.

Y2Jasmine- FICTION: Are you serious? These two are so far past stale that it is a joke. Regardless if the WWE is short of tag teams,( they arent, in my opinion) the fact remains that these two are NOT a good tag team anymore. They have never had a break-up to my knowledge and as it is, as long as they remain in a tag team slot, it hinders the rising of newer fresher tag teams that may be more suited to the task.

Kaedon- Fiction: I don’t think it really fucking matters because the WWE really doesn’t give a rats ass about the tag division other than it being window dressing. While they are in short command of tag teams that look like they belong together, not MnM2k8 and Sanlito; but Cade and Murdoch really, at least I think, have gone as far as they can as a team in the current WWE idiom.

-The WWE are using HHH as a crutch by keeping him in the main event with Randy Orton instead of using the young talent they have in Ken Kennedy and John Cena to carry the show.

Soulpower- Hell Yes (Fact): What's worse is that HHH hasn't been increasing the ratings. So your product isn't getting any better, and you're not developing your young guys. I understand why they go back to HHH so often, but the fact is that he won't wrestle forever. They NEED to focus on the younger guys just to see if one of them becomes the next mega-star.

CMS- The Game, a crutch? This is fiction. HHH stayed away from main event picture almost since 2005. He feuded Flair and Big Show, went after the title of Cena from WM to Backlash, then went into DX, got injured, returned, feuded Booker, Carlito and Umaga. Got his No Mercy rollercoaster title win and lose, a little more of Umaga, some Hardy and finally he goes to main event. That is 4 PPVs, from WM22 to WM24, in which he has been in title matches. Now this feud with Orton is him returning to main event. Besides, Orton already went through all Raw faces by himself, Cena included. Kennedy, he is not ready to be main eventing yet.

HHHForever- Fiction. First off Kennedy isn't ready for the Main Event just yet. He disapeared after WM for his movie and he's never really gotten the big push before. His face turn against Regal is going great and it's a great stepping stone for him. Barring any set backs he'll be ready for the ME at the end of the year. As far as Cena goes he was in the ME scene long enough. He needs a little time away from the title and overall it's been good. This Orton-HHH feud is fantastic imo and I think it's a great decision by the WWE. These two are amazing together in the ring and they work together very well on the mic. For the first time in a while there's not one thing that I would change with the WWE's booking. I love everything they're doing right now.

Randy Orton’s Boner- Fiction. I'm not even really certain how one can come to this viewpoint but anyway. Its nice to see John Cena out of the main event for a bit. Kennedy has become such a cliche of himself that he needs to tweak his personality a bit before he moves into the main event, so he's not ready. HHH hasn't held the title, and I mean actually held the title (the one night reign doesn't count) in years, so it has nothing to do with using him as a crutch, he's one of their top stars and it was time for him to hold the world title again. I'm pretty sure the entire premise of this idea was created by rabid hhhaters.

Y2Jasmine- FICTION: HHH has always been a huge draw in this role. He has never had an unsuccessfull run as champion. Cena needs a break from that rle, since he has been the WWE Champ poster boy for far too long as it is. Kennedy isnt ready for it yet, but is well on his way. Theres really noone else that can realistically hold on to that title right now. Besides randy Orton and I think the WWE doesnt want to have him on a really huge streak because when the time comes, whoever wins the title from HHH is going to get put over hugely by beating Triple H. Be it Randy Orton reclaiming the title or someone else entirely, it would be a huge coup for anyone to take the belt from HHH.

Kaedon- Fact: I know, everyone wants Cena out of the main event, fine. But HHH is not going to last forever. I hope we all know this and realize this. And while the WWE is good for about 5 years after him, in Cena, Orton, and Edge, there really are no other guys being given the chance to run in the main event. Batista is old, so he’s got the shelf life of the “vets”, Matt and Jeff, Kennedy, MVP, Punk none of them have been really given an opportunity to shine in a main event feud. They don’t have to win because it doesn’t matter, but lets at least get a look at them. Oh wait, Jeff did and he did do alright, until he *shoots heroin and pops pills* decided to take some time off.

Hai, thanks for including probably the first person to ask you, a-hole. :lac:

Anyways, good edition. I love how Jasmine says she can't even remember what the Main Event was for NWO, when in reality, it was probably the best Main Event for a PPV so far this year. I think it was very safe to say that Backlash was the worst PPV of the year so far. And as you said, not just so much because it was bad, more because all the others have been above average, where this one falls down below that just a bit.

Good stuff as always.

Triple H is just holding Cena's belt until he's done with the movie, like it or not that's what's going on. Cena is WWE's meal ticket so to speak, he sells merch, sells PPVs and is over with the kids which WWE is marketing to these days. While pushing the younger talent like Kennedy, Punk, MVP, and even Matt Hardy (the Hardy Vince could actual trust) is something the IWC would like to see it won't happen until the time is right. Trips has took a few steps back from where he was a couple years ago and he let guys like Batista, Cena and Orton run with the ball for awhile and show the world what they're able to do and has only stepped up and reclaimed the top spot when something happens (Cena getting hurt and now with Cena filming a movie and is unable to work house shows because of that). So yes Hunter is being used as a crutch.
