I realized one big today, which is rather obvisous, but my logic explains it better. I was thinking, what were the "biggest" matchups in WM history. Of course, i'd say Hogan vs Andre was #1, then Hogan vs Rock, Then Austin/Rock and HBK/Bret at 4. But after that, you got Hogan/warrior, Hogan/Macho, Flair vs Macho, Macho vs Warrior.

Now the wwe is changing and i understand that, but i miss the big once in a lifetime matchups. The matches back then meant something. Sure Hogan was the super hero, but they built those matches up like none other. Hogan cant wrestle for a lick, but he had some of the most important matches in wrestling history. I'd like to see the wwe go back to this, although it wont happen.

My question, an i right assuming those matchups from wm 1-10 mean more than lets say HHH vs HBK vs Beniot, Batista vs HHH, Cena vs HHH, Brock vs Angle.

I'd consider adding HHH vs Cena to the top ten, but certainly the golden days dominates in having meaningful matches.

Thats my little rant. Sorry if its confusing.

I would personally add the Vince/Shane matchup from WM 17 as on of my top five. The match wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and watching it again recently really makes me appreciate it more. Just the 2 names alone make it stand out and the storyline behind it was pretty decent. I really dont think it's all that fair though to compare the older WM matches from WM 12 and down to those WM matches from nowadays. The style and technique is and was so much different.

Sure, the matches back then were build up not in a better way, but made seem so much more important.

As for once in a liftetime matchups, the thing is that most of the encounters we have seen them before in a lower scale, then WWE wants us top buy it as a top WM match, for example, Cena vs HBK, we saw them feuding time and time again during the last part of 2005.

To me, Wrestlemania's main evene needs to be a match that has never happened before(like edge vs Taker) or a match with oh so much background and history behind it(HHH vs Orton, I still say WWE missed the boat and this should have been Wrestlemania's main event this year, I actually felt sad when they add Cena to this match)
