The McMahon's have been rumored to be interested in starting a mixed martial arts promotion. Shane McMahon in particular is said to be a big fan of the sport and the McMahon name has come up a number of times when various promotions have been up for sale (including PRIDE) or starting up.

Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban has spoken before about working with the McMahon's in the MMA world. Cuban owns "HDNet", a high-definition TV channel that features a lot of MMA shows. HE is trying to put together the heavyweight fight that everyone wants to see later this year - Randy Couture vs. Fedor Emelianenko.

In a recent interview with The Edmonton Sun, Cuban was asked:

Are you trying to form an MMA company to rival the UFC? Are you thinking of involving the McMahon family from the WWE?

His answer was: "Absolutely. We are looking to partner where we can, do our own promotions where it makes sense. We think the future is built around the fighters and their personalities. No one else has this focus and partnership approach. We think it's a winner."

lol, Mark Cuban and McMahon. What a duo.

Mark Cuban is such a thug, I love him. Far and away the greates owner in all sports. That would be quite the duo though.

This would be sweet it if it was true but it would be better for him to buy the Cubs

^I agree. I'm not really a Cubs fan, but that would be great for their organization. Cuban is an excellent owner and I think he'd really help them get to the top.

Cuban is the ultimately anti-owner. He doesn't do what typical owners do. I think this might work. The owners' names added together would garner attention immediately.

I dont watch MMA, but if Mcmahon wants to start up a promotion then I guess he should roll with it. But if the MMA company gets really popular will that make him loose focus on his main product, the WWE?

I don't see Mcmahon starting any type of MMA project. MMA is essentially a rival to professional wrestling so for him to start his own MMA project which would take away WWE viewing from PPV's and such would be a pointless move for him.

It would make sense for Vince to go the MMA route its big at the mo and potentially a big money maker, But the thing is would he 1 use it as a cross over and put WWE stars on there now and again to get publicity for the WWE because that would be shite the are wrestlers not MMA stars.2 would it take him away from putting 100% into WWE if so then again that would be shit for WWE fans. But saying that if Vince kept it separate and let Shane do the work on the MMA and Vince stayed focus on WWE then there shud be no probs with running 2 opposite companys he is in a win win situation
