The easiest and most efficient thing every member can do is use the report button if you see something that you feel is out of bounds. These start discussions in the staff room and if the content is actionable, we’ll take action.

I’ve even instructed my staff to do the same. I wasn’t online until the tail end of the conversation in the chat, but as soon as it was made clear no one found that behavior tolerable actions were taken.

What we usually like to do is have a sliding escalation of bans from 3 days to a month to 3 months to permanent, but his consistent violation of our “leniency” had us jump that to a month. Hopefully when he comes back he won’t continue to test us.
Yeah, that could be easily abused.

Unless it's shown who made the report to weed out people doing it at random or have a vendetta like people did with negreps.

Yeah, just because something gets reported doesn’t mean something will be done. We have had a fair share of reports that wasn’t anything to it and nothing was done, because nothing needed to be.

A report doesn’t automatically mean actions will be taken against a person for that content.

Staff won’t abuse people simply because somebody is reported but don’t be afraid to use a report. No one is going to get in trouble for being reported unless they actually did something bad and no one is going to get in trouble for using the report system even if the report is not actionable.

Recently there was an indicent during an AEW live chat where there was a transphobia issue and I actually logged out out for a day or two and just headed back in to see if it had been resolved, with the intention of skipping town if it hadn't (seriously, I don't have time for that s**t as don't most people) but I was very happy to see that it HAD been sorted at the person in question got a ban

So yeah, shout out to @Kid Vicious and the mod team for keeping Smarks an inclusive place for all.

And as you can see (much to @Chris dismay) I'm still here and still doing my thing! So yeah, I hope that everyone else can have faith in the sytem and know that bad people do get whats coming to them, even if it's not immediate.

There will always be a discussion first even if it takes a couple hours but generally speaking things are always coming in due time.

I even tried to flag you down like a minute after you left because we were already in the process of banning him. :pour

I apologize for being the one that's always there and not just going rambo with the bans :lol that warning I gave in the AEW chat was one of the only ones i never even consulted staff about first

I have no issue with anything the mods do. Don't ever think you're doing a bad job because you're not. No need for an apology, like I say the whole mod team do a great job from my pov.

Just don't ban me for being smart during a live :p

I'd like to open the floor to anyone who has had issues with this in the past, but what can we mods do to improve things, and how can we make it so moderation is more equal and fair for others?

For example, what do people believe constitutes going too far from an argument into "excessive flaming", or at minimum something people feel us mods should be notified, reported to, or just be on the look out for?

I apologize to my fellow members of the LGBTQ community. I have been sick the past couple days and not been here for you all.

In the past I have walked the line a lot. But please reach out to me if you need to.
