thank god benitez failed to sign owen when he left real madrid.owen is too injury prone to be in the spotlight again. It's a shame but that's the way it is.

as for sven he is here for the money,he didn't take charge of man city to make them premiership champions. He's buying players that will help make man city be a top 10 side and give a good showing in their deby matches against united.Sven is also trying to re establish his credentials as a club manager. He will probably stay here for a couple of seasons then move on to manage a bigger team.

how do you join?

Sam Allardyce will allow Michael Owen to play for England if he is fit by next week.
Owen will only miss the season opener

Newcastle United have signed Jose Enrique from Spanish side Villarreal for £6.3million.I don't know the player so i can't really comment on him.

Way overpriced that Jose Enrique. With that money, he could have gotten Leighteon Baines.

Chelsea are going to face a big problem at the beginning of the season due to the african players have national games that time. Essien, Drogba, Kalou will be missed.

i think the african nations cup is in march 2008 and lasts for one month.Chelsea can buy a couple players when the transfer window reopens in january 2008. if nigeria has qualified i think obi mickel will also be unavailable for 1 month.

Thats why Chelsea signed Sidwell and Pizzaro. To replace Essien and Drogba when they leave for the African Nations.

Liverpool will lose Sissoko (If Mali qualify) but i'm not bothered too much because we got Alonso and Mascherano as well and as EoE said any team would be lucky to have that trio.

Well liverpool fans(namely switchy, EOE and TDK), here's news for you. Your central midfield isn't as good as you think it is. Lampard, Ballack, Essien> Masch, Sissoko, Alonso.

Umm, I think you're missing out Stevie G. I know he plays on the right most of the time but Rafa's moved him back in the middle recently so reality check. Ballack isn't all that, Lampard is past his prime, Essien is a decent player but Sissoko is better.

Gerrard>Lampard, Alonso or Mascherano>Ballack, Sissoko>Essien.

We'll have to wait until this weekend at the start of the season and find out who the better team *cough*Liverpool*cough* really is.

i agree for gerrard and alonso/mascherano.It's true ballack seems lost sometimes. But i don't agree for momo sissoko.I think essien is better.Sissoko is a diamond in the rough. He reads the game well, very good tackler but his passing is just too horrendous right now for him to be better than essien.Besides essien can score cracking goals like he did against valencia whereas momo can't seem to hit the target even if his life depends on it.plus the fact that he gets injured all the time doesn't help matters. That's why rafa went in for mascherano.Rafa is taking his time with momo because the potential is there for everyone to see.But right now i agree with phantomgerald in that essien is better than sissoko.
