Well lets take a look at the 06 ECW, now I'm talking about before Lashley came in.
Kurt Angle
RVD
Sabu
Test
Big Show
Those were the main eventers, at first we saw extreme rules every match, then one extreme rules match a show. With Show as champion he competed in several good hardcore matches against superstars from other brands namely Kane, Ric Flair, Undertaker, Batista. Most of these matches were good and showcased true extremeinism except for a few. It was a pretty cool concept and added heel heat to him by taking out the legends and ranting on about how he can beat anyone. We also saw a ladder match or two, those were real good, Paul Heyman was playing a great heel and it seemed like it was going to be pretty good. Then Lashley came in and that was cool, but once the Extreme EC occured ECW went down hill. For a few months ECW was trash but then it rebounded with the uprising of Burke, Punk, entry of Cor Von, and the start of NB vs. Originals. And then finally, once Lashley dropped the belt it got that much better. Now we have the young guys running ECW, Nitro as champ, Punk, Burke, Cor Von, Thorne as future challengers, and possibly the entry of Paul Burchill. Now we have more wrestling based shows instead of extreme rule brawling type shows, we also have the younger guys instead of the vets. So both years were completely different but I have to say 2007, mainly because of the last few months. THey have been great, you tune in and you know your gonna get atleast one good match. Sure they dont have any true storylines only a feud between Punk and Nitro but thats what I like about it, you dont need to tune in every week to follow ECW. I mean...
Burke, Punk, Cor Von, Thorne, Nitro>Big Show, Lashley, Test, Dreamer, Sabu in wrestling ability and thats what I wanna see, this new breeded ECW stars can also put on a pretty good extreme rules match as we have seen before, ECW has been turned into a wrestling program now and the ratings side with me.
