Stefan Struve vs. Pat Barry Added to UFC on Versus 6

A new heavyweight fight has been added to UFC on Versus 6. UFC.com confirms that verbal agreements are set for Stefan Struve to face Pat Barry as part of the October 1 card. The stakes will be high, as with both men coming off a loss, it will mean the loser will drop two in a row, putting them at risk of being cut from the UFC.

Stefan Struve is only 23 years old, but already has an impressive 21-5 record, including going 5-3 in just 2 years in the UFC. He scored two big wins over Christian Morecraft and Sean McCorkle to close out 2010, but was knocked out by Travis Browne in his last outing at UFC 130. As always, he'll have a significant height advantage, but should look to take this fight to the ground, where he'll have the best skill advantage over Barry.

Pat Barry comes in off his wild UFC on Versus 4 main event loss to Cheick Kongo, in which Kongo came back from the very edge of defeat to knock Barry out cold. The former K-1 fighter has had some strong showings in his MMA career, but has struggled to find consistency, going 3-3 in the UFC, 6-3 overall. He'll have a clear cut advantage standing, and if he can keep the fight there, he can win.

The October 1 card is shaping up nicely and looks to be the best card the UFC has yet put together on Versus. The show is headlined by Dominick Cruz defending his Bantamweight title against Demetrious Johnson in the first free UFC title fight since Quinton Jackson vs. Dan Henderson at UFC 75. The complete current card is as follows:
