For me what it boils down to is TNA needs to be an alternative to WWE rather than being WWE Light.

In the early years TNA used to be a complete alternative to WWE and that is what appealed to fans. They had the six sided ring which was a completely new look for a US promotion and something that most wrestling fans had never seen before. They actually focussed on other divisions outside the Heavyweight title. They allowed more weapons and violence than WWE so they were slightly more edgy in that respect. Jeff and Jerry were actually smart when they started TNA because they had a look around and realised that to survive and thrive they had to be different, that is why ROH is going strong and making money and that is what made ECW so successful.

Over the last few years TNA has lost that and have simple become an inferior version of WWE. They now have the same ring, the same structure, the same wrestlers, the same over the top focus on just the heavyweight title. They have basically taken the WWE playbook and copied that but focussed more on the Attitude Era by having some ridiculous storylines and lots of swerves.

TNA need to first of all create strong divisions from top to bottom. Yes you want the TNA World title to be the ultimate goal but for a wrestling show to do well the entire show needs to be interesting and not just the half an hour focussed on the top title. Their Tag Team division used to be by far the best in wrestling but now it is almost as bad as the WWE tag team division, ROH has flown past TNA and clearly has the best tag team division in wrestling. Knockouts used to be the top draws for TNA and TNA would book them as stars. When Awesome Kong and Gail Kim were feuding the sky was the limit for that division but now it has become just another division that only gets a few minutes of time. I think that they need to drop the KO tag team title to start with because firstly they don't have enough quality over KO's and secondly because TNA don't give them enough time on Impact each week. It would only work if they had their own hour show. The X-Division is what really put TNA on the map and look at how far it has fallen. Granted Austin Aries is an awesome champion but look at how bad his opposition is there is no longer a proper division it is simple filled with rookies with no charisma.

TNA also need to seriously cut back on wrestlers, their roster is massive for only a two hour show and the show feels so rushed because they try to get everyone over with so little time. I would save them money by cutting the expensive veterans that don't draw for them and that are more trouble than they are worth and by cutting useless talents that will never add anything to the show. Get rid of Hogan, Bischoff (his son can go as well), Devon, Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle, Hernandez, Kid Kash, Shannon Moore, Sting, RVD. Now I know that I have listed some massive names but look at the crap Jeff and Kurt get up to outside the ring, it is a public relations nightmare for TNA and they shouldn't stand for that crap because at the moment TNA wrestlers know that they can do whatever they want and TNA will never get rid of them.

TNA also need to get out of the Impact Zone. I know that it is a lot more expensive to take the show on the road but the crowd there sucks and it looks cheap. There is no reason for TNA to hold a PPV there these days. Every single PPV should be on the road and they should easily be able to draw a couple of thousand fans to the shows to make it worthwhile. The can hold some tapings there in the short term whilst they work out how to organise it but in a years time they should frequently be on the road taping shows all over the country.

TNA needs to start to focus on PPVs a lot more. They are where the big money is in wrestling and TNA are idiots for ignoring them and focussing more on television ratings. Use Impact to sell the PPVs, that is what tv is for when you are a wrestling company, it is there to push fans to buy the PPVs each month. Getting less than 10k buys for a PPV is pathetic when they draw 1.3 million viewers weekly, 25k should be the target for them and it will bring in a lot more money. In order to encourage more fans to buy the PPVs they also need to stop with the ridiculous finishes to the mainevent matches on PPV because it discourages people from buying PPVs from them again.

They are just a few ideas in how I would change TNA for the better. They need to make some big structural changes and basically need to become an alternative once again.
