Overeem thinks Lesnar deserves more credit. Speaking to MMA Fight Corner shortly after his move to join the Blackzilians camp in Florida was announced, he said:

“I know the impact of my knees. I think he took five direct impacts and then a liver kick. I know that one accurately placed knee is a knock out so that’s a lot of good shots.

“It’s so easy to say after the fight if somebody’s performance was disappointing. I think certain fans do that, but I think fighters realize all the hard work and preparation that went into it. I think Brock was 100%, he did cut me on the eye with a hard jab. I think it’s a little bit short-minded to say he wasn’t there to fight.â€

The win earned Overeem a shot at the heavyweight title held by Junior Dos Santos. The two are to meet in Las Vegas on May 26th. Yesterday Overeem was announced as having joined the ‘Blackzilian’ team in South Florida. His training camp commences at the start of March.

People do wanna sell Brock short but he did come from the WWE to the UFC and became their world heavyweight champion with two successful title defenses. He went in there with the top striker in the heavyweight division and even landed a shot on him. Plus he is returning from surgery to his intestines against a guy with the most lethal knees. A K1 champion at that.

Yeah the performance didn't look good... but he was there and tried.

He deserves credit for never turning down a challenge, but his performance was shit, no point sugar coating it.

He gave up as soon as he was hit with a significant shot.

He deserves credit for not turning down the challenge and even going out there to do another fight with someone like Overeem who can lay lethal shots into you. Especially with Lesnar not being in 100 percent considering his diseases and surgery.
