Amazing Red defeated Jay Lethal to win the TNA X-Division Championship at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City during TNA's house show, which is still going on at this time.

We will have a full report on the show on the site later.

Wow this is ridiculous. Why have him drop the title just over two weeks after he won the title and on a house show? This doesn't make any sense and it just makes the title look like a joke. Plus what has Amazing Red been doing lately on Impact, is he really the next in line after Jay Lethal? This may be one of those situations that at the next house show Lethal wins it back so that on television it looks like Lethal has always been champion.

Yeah, they're going to have another match that's about fifteen minutes from Jay's birthplace, so I think they'll just drop it to him there. Not a big deal.
Edit -

TNA Wrestling BREAKING NEWS: Jay Lethal defeated The Amazing Red on Saturday night at the TNA Live Event in Rahway, New Jersey to regain the X Division Championship!

Via their Facebook.
I'm guessing it was just to please the hometown crowd.

I still find it strange when WWE or TNA do this, it makes the title seem less important. I remember WWE previously did it with the Crusierweight title in Italy and possibly the Women's title as well.

Oh well, would have been fun for the fans on those two nights to see their hometown wrestlers winning the title. Will TNA mention this on television this week or will it be ignored?

Also I remember Edge winning the IC belt from Jeff Jarrett as a replacement for Ken Shamrock on a house show [this was before Edge was a singles star], but then losing it back the night after at Fully Loaded.
