So I played about 4 hours of MW3 over the last two days.

I like how they switched up the killstreaks. The support class is pretty awesome. Also, I like that objective play counts towards your streaks. Kill confirmed is pretty fun.

My biggest complaint is the maps. They are are small, cramped space, with tons of places to hide/camp/headglitch/etc. There's no Afghan or Wasteland and it blows hard.

Call of Duty breaks own sales record

NEW YORK -- By the third time around, it really shouldn't be a surprise. The latest "Call of Duty" video game set a first-day sales record this week, generating $400 million in sales in its first 24 hours in stores. That breaks the record its predecessor set this time last year.

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" is the third game in the military shooter series to set such a record. Last year, "Call of Duty: Black Ops" raked in $360 million in its first 24 hours on sale. "Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2," sold 4.7 million copies in its first 24 hours to reap $310 million

The latest installment of the game from Activision Blizzard Inc. went on sale at midnight Tuesday in North America and the U.K.

Activision said Friday the game sold 6.4 million units in its first 24 hours.

A rival shooter game from Electronic Arts Inc., "Battlefield 3," meanwhile, sold 5 million units in its first week in stores last month, making it the fastest-selling game in EA's history.

The figures show there's a big appetite for big shooter games this holiday season, boding well for their publishers and retailers such as GameStop Corp.

Shares of Activision Blizzard slipped 16 cents to $12.82 in morning trading Friday.

Jesus between these games and Halo seems like if you want to make big money make a shooter game franchise since that seems to be what is in nowadays. 400 million in one day is insane.

It's sad that a generic first person military shooter that looks like 10,000 other games and is basically an online only game, because nobody cares about the campaign, can outsell games like Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, Uncharted and even GTA. Really is.

Not a fan of EA In general or just their Battlefield series?

I played the shit out of Bad Company 2. Got nothing against Battlefield or the developers, DICE.

I just don't like EA for various reasons, the foremost being the introduction of Project 10 Dollar which basically treats gamers and paying customers like criminals for buying used games, not to mention setting back the industry in the eyes of the media about a decade by blatantly marketing Dead Space 2 and Dante's Inferno to children. They've also hurt their series by trying to make Battlefield similar to COD in an effort to steal Activision's market share, rather than making their completely own game and playing to Battlefield's strengths.

Activision aren't exactly saints either, but they're just greedy. EA are doing much more harm to the videogame industry imo.

Not that it matters much for playability but after seeing how realistic Battlefield 3 looks, MW3 seems a little cartoony.

I suck at first person shooters, so I don't get to excited about these games, but I know a lot of people that love them, and imagine they'd be fun if I wasn't so bad at them. Can't knock them for following a simple formula and building a cash cow.

Although with most things, it won't last forever, can see them making a few more big money games, but after that either something better will come out, or they'll change the formula completely.

For the last two weeks I've been bothered by people who think because I play video games that I am going to go out and get this game despite the fact that I don't play shooters very much. They seem shocked by my replies. I'd actually go out on a limb that I won't even play this game at all.

I think I'm going to be buying Skyrim instead in a few weeks since that is the game everybody should really be talking about.

The campaign for this game is the best in the series so far but I think the Call of Duty game creators need to use a better graphics generator. They haven't evolved it since Modern Warfare 1 and that isn't very good, I hope they use better graphics for the next CoD game if they do create one.
