WWE Network Show Ideas Still Being Discussedpwinsider/wrestlingnewssource

WWE are still loading up ideas/shows for the WWE Network given that they are still aiming for an early 2014 launch.

- A Cruiserweight style show feat smaller WWE superstars is still in the works.
- A Divas expansion different to Total Divas.
- Reality based series focusing on WWE superstars.
- Mick Foley's comedy show is being filmed for the Network.
- WWE Legends House filmed last year.
- Replays of weekly WWE shows of the past.
- Classic "Raw" & "Smackdown"

Personally I hope the Network shows NXT first off. Everyone who watches it on Hulu knows why. I'd also be happy if they just replaced Main event with it if ion was willing

Next I think I would like an all divas wrestling show with the girls all getting time, but I'd tape it in the NXT arena with different signs posted like ecw used to be taped. They would be taken much more seriously wrestling in a small setting like that IMO.

Cruiserweights are another thing, have them replace Superstars. They have the roster. Bourne, JTG, Hawkins, 3MB, Kidd, Gabriel, Sin Cara, Hunico, and a bunch of other guys. I wouldn't put Rey back in it, but I'd definitely be fine with it returning and maybe a handful of other faces not on the roster with CW singles and tag teams.

No interest on foley. No clue on who is even in legends House. Would love to see Nitro, thunder, Heat, velocity and the like be featured.

What do you guys want to see or think of their ideas?

Would love if NXT got the chance to shine a little more. I disagree with the cruiser weight show. They don't have a roster for it. The Cruiserweight Championship is contested with superstars under 225 pounds. Hawkins barely fits that. McIntyre is well over it. Jinder Mahal hardly fits. Evan is never going to return, and if he does he's gonna get canned. Hunico is much better with Camacho as a team. JTG is too big. That leaves a small amount of people. I would just rather then do a third brand, like ECW, that was used to showcase the smaller talents, the newer talents, and the people that had nothing going for them. That would be the best bet in my opinion.

Call them light heavyweights or something. Plenty of them could have their weights fudged, that or make it sort of like an x division in its early days in Nashville. I just think they want to give the Superstars contingent something to do when competing amongst themselves. Maybe a TV title division sort of thing.

Cruiserweights ARE Light Heavyweights in rasslin. Just let them go all Japan on their show and see if it sticks, hell give a few bucks to Dragongate and poach some guys if you want. Could be a decent way to cut off Triple A if that El Ray network takes off.

Like Foley, so I'd watch his stand up, basically him telling old road stories like his books.

Just give Iron Shiek a talk show where he interviews guys on their Legends Contracts, or better yet Piper with Shieky baby as co-host. I also miss those legends roundtable discussions put that on.

Also, There is a library of like 30 years of wrestling, some people would actually like to see that.

I'd watch a Sheek and Piper discussion like PTI or maybe an Around The horn with legends.

I wouldn't be shocked to see them try to launch a sportscenter type program. Coach where are you?

Sports? This is stil WWE. More like E! programs with a wrestling Sports Entertainment twist. Less PTI, more The Soup cuz it's cheaper and you can just rag on WCW all you want.

For what it's worth I actually quite enjoy Total Divas so I wouldn't mind seeing some reality based stuff on the guys of the roster. Maybe a 'Week In The Life' sort of thing of different people up and down the card, think it would be quite cool and insightful to see what a bunch of them get upto.

Legends Roundtable were great as Deezy said, still countless subjects they could do on that.

I'm not big on them adding another actual wrestling show unless they scrap Superstars & Main Event because let's be honest here, they're exactly the same program. NXT should be put on TV though for the Americans at least.

All past shows whose libraries they own will also be a big draw i'd imagine, however i'll still torrent them as I assume they'll be heavily, heavily edited.

- WWE will be ending their Classics On Demand service beginning January 31st, 2014, according to a new memo sent out to cable subscribers this weekend.

“As of January 31, 2014, WWE CLASSICS ON DEMAND will no longer be available as a monthly subscription service. This is not a choice made by Mediacom, but rather a business decision made by the WWE in order to focus on other programming content.”

WWE is canceling the service due to the upcoming WWE Network launch. There were reports of Classics On Demand being canceled over a year ago but this could be a sign that WWE is finally getting ready to launch their Network.

Safe to say its truly coming. Maybe we get an Elimination Chamber launch

Really easy decision to make at this price as I'm sure they would still it separately on ppv too

- We noted before that people within WWE are under the impression that the WWE Network will finally launch before WrestleMania XXX. Very few people internally are aware of any details past the point that WWE is shooting a lot of footage for the Network but nobody has been told when it would be airing.

One source notes that WrestleMania XXX is strongly being talked about as a way to lure people to sign up for the Network, with the idea that they can get a huge amount of sign-ups immediately if people realize they can get WrestleMania in HD for "free" by signing up for a $9.95 per month program that comes with a lot more WWE content.

The hope is if fans sign up, most won’t cancel, will like what content is offered including the monthly PPV "for free," and it won’t be a slow growth but an instant hit.

They hired a good guy to put in charge of that network.

Better be available in Canada or I'm moving.

I had Classics on Demand to I switched to satellite. I hope a network is actually offered by most. I only pay for Hulu mainly for them and Toei. 120 for a year of wwe network with ppvs is right up there with NBALP as an investment

No word yet on if the PPV will be same night, or if it will be like the On Demand where you get the PPV for free, 4 months later. Not really a great deal by the looks of it, when I can stream 13 PPV's a year. The benefit for me would be a replay, where its not aired during amazing Sunday night timeslots.

Already get NXT on tv thanks to extended deals made when it was still ECW, so for me Superstars would be more useful.

As for the reality shows, I already don't watch "Real Roadwives of the WWE", highly doubt I will watch the Surreal Life reboot.

I think they really need to focus on some exclusive WRESTLING shows. Like me & SAIYANS were discussing in the NXT thread, a Diva's wrestling show would be nice, a cruiser/lightweight show would get a lot of people to stop bitching about the "Vanilla Midget" since now you wouldn't have to watch them, and maybe a Tough Enough with actually trained wrestlers, instead of reality show cast offs.

They need daily blocks during the day of classic wrestling programs. I don't care about them wasting their time on a Cruiserweight Division or giving divas more time unless it translates well with Raw and SmackDown!. You'll just have a bunch of bozos get lost in the shuffle.

I'd have primetime with a classic PPV or a big show that corresponds with some old school wrestling block unless they have a new show on that evening. Don't force new garbage if you don't have to, educate these new fans on what's what instead.

Kif what you are pitching sounds like early NBA TV when they had hardwood classic blocks, a white shadow block, and a euro league block in its infancy before Turner bought them

As previously reported, WWE began sending out media invites on Tuesday to a “special event” on Wednesday, January 8th at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

That same week is also the 2014 International CES, which is an international consumer and electronics trade show that WWE has had a regular presence at. Last year, WWE showcased their new WWE App, which debuted a few months prior to the 2013 CES.

The media invite for the trade show in January announced that Vince McMahon himself would be in attendance. This is interesting to note because McMahon rarely attends these type of events. In most cases, George Barrios or Stephanie McMahon would represent WWE at these kind of events, so it seems as though something big is planned this time around.

While it is still unofficial at this point, many are speculating that this could be the announcement of the official launch of the highly anticipated WWE Network.

We should have an update on this story on Wednesday afternoon.

Anyhow I'm shocked they would use Vegas, thought this would be a NY or LA announcement type thing, but right place and time I suppose. Just get a damn satellite contract unlike Diddy and Revolt please
