Raw Five-Point Preview: Sept. 21, 2015
We're just a night removed from the Night of Champions, will you be here?It was a hot time in Houston last night thanks to the returning Demon Kane, who laid waste to WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and Mr. Money in the Bank, Sheamus. Will The Devil’s Favorite Demon bring his penchant for destruction to Raw?
Why has Demon Kane returned?
Ditching his slacks for his signature, demonic mask, Kane re-emerged last night at Night of Champions with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins square in his sights, and if you can recall The Architect’s last interaction with the Director of Operations Kane in July — when Rollins exacerbated Kane’s ankle injury incurred at the hands of Brock Lesnar — it stands to reason that Kane is looking for some payback. However, after last night, it remains to be seen what the masked menace is truly after. Is he satisfied after giving Rollins a chokeslam and a Tombstone Piledriver at Night of Champions, or might Kane have loftier aspirations on his twisted mind? Was The Authority aware of the monster’s return, or was he working on his own? Regardless, expect Demon Kane to make an impact once again tonight on Raw.
Is Ryback hungry for a rematch?
Ryback comes from a long line of Intercontinental Champions looking to bring prestige and attention to what’s become known as a “workhorse title.†Kevin Owens, meanwhile, is just looking for more zeroes on his paychecks. So it had to sting all the more when “The Prizefighter†stole the Intercontinental Title last night after raking The Big Guy across the eyes.
Now that Owens has an Intercontinental Title to shove in the faces of his detractors, will Ryback come to Raw with intent to feast on the newly crowned champion?
How will Charlotte celebrate her Divas Title victory?
After watching victory slip through her fingers last week on Raw — when Nikki Bella became the longest-reigning Divas Champion in history — Charlotte scored a measure of retribution against Team Bella when she made Nikki tap out to the Figure-Eight Leglock and scored her first Divas Title. Undoubtedly, the daughter of two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is preparing to make some history of her own.
How will Charlotte commemorate her first 24 hours as Divas Champion? We’ll find out on Raw.
Might tables be spared on Raw?
So much for #SaveTheTables. After retaining the WWE Tag Team Championship against The Dudley Boyz when Xavier Woods got Big E & Kofi Kingston disqualified last night, the upbeat trio brought hypocrisy to another level when they attempted to drive their beaten opponents through a table. However, before The New Day could officially contradict their furniture-focused social media campaign, Bubba Ray & D-Von rallied and gave Woods some serious splinters with a 3D through the pine.
Having failed to become 10-time Tag Team Champions in WWE, what might The Dudley Boyz have planned for the titleholders?
Will Cena’s newly won U.S. Title be on the line?
After becoming United States Champion at WrestleMania 31, John Cena began a weekly “U.S. Open Challenge,†granting anyone in the locker room a title opportunity against The Champ. A wide variety of Superstars would step up to Cena for the star-spangled prize, including the likes of Neville, Stardust and Sami Zayn, but Seth Rollins didn’t quite stick with that tradition when he won the title at SummerSlam.
Now that Cena has reclaimed Old Glory, will he defend it tonight? Based on his post-match interview with WWE.com, you can count on it.
