Wrestling Smarks Fantasy Hockey 2024-25

Hockey season is once again upon us and with it, another chance to enjoy some Fantasy Hockey for the Good Ol' Hockey Game. I took an extra day or two make this in part due to work, and also with the hockey world still being shook by the untimely and horrific passing of star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, due to the recklessness of one man who likely will be spending his days behind bars. So, I figured to keep a memorial image on this page for the entirety of the season and also encourage you participating to have fun, celebrate the game, and be respectful like the former Lady Byng winner world.
After I learned a decent bit as a GM last season, I've been thinking about what to do for this season. Specifically for the structure. For points, I want to come up with a point structure that is fair and balanced. I also want people to feel engaged throughout the season. The Rottiserie style is what we used last year and its pros are ease, consistency, but once you are down in the standings, you may feel demotivated. I'm thinking a Head-to-Head match-up can be of a benefit. Though setting line-ups and stuff can be a pain (though I noticed there was a quick line-up setting option for the ongoing Fantasy Baseball league so if there is one for hockey, that'd be cool as it saves time). Also even if you are eliminated, then you may still feel compelled to win match-ups for pride. Though ideally, there's an even number of teams if we do Head-to-Head, but I may check what happens if there is an odd number of teams for the odd one out.
