Now that CM Punk's MMA career is most likely over, since he has been released by the UFC. I was thinking there are many wrestlers out there, with real shoot wrestling or martial arts backgrounds. Who do you think can or could have had a career in UFC? It can be past or present or outside of WWE too.

The wrestlers that I'm thinking are William Regal, Antonio Inoki, Kurt Angle, Steve Blackman and the Iron Sheik.

Lets be serious. Absolutely no one in WWE apart from Brock obviously. Anybody else would get dropped just like Punk. Don't underestimate how talented these girls and guys are. Pro wrestlers may seem athletic and tough but they have nothing on someone who has black belt in brazilian Jiu Jitsu

That's why I said wrestlers who have a background in martial arts or amateur wrestling...

I'm gonna add Lou Thesz to my list.

Yh none of them. Background isn't enough. Ziggler has done so much pro wrestling that he has forgotten all of his amature wrestrling skills. Once you stop doing a martial art you need to maintain it, let alone compete at a professional standard. No one in WWE apart from Brock and Bobby. Maybe Joe, but then again I can easily see Joe get dropped in UFC.

So because CM Punk, who is almost 40 and had no experience at all failed. That means no one in the history of wrestling could ever have been an mma fighter except for Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar?

Didn't say that. Well you have loads of people in the past. Dan severn and Kurt Angle ffs. Just no one in WWE now apart from of course Ronda, Brock and Lashley (even Bobby found moderate success). Who else is there? Joe maybe? He would most likely get fucked up. Absolutely no one.

I don't know how you misinterpreted me so poorly tbh

Because that's basically what you said.

No one in WWE apart from Brock and Bobby.

By the way, I specified past or present in the name of the thread... How did you misinterpreted that so poorly? I just wanted to see if anyone else had some interesting names that could have been MMA fighters... I'm starting to think you just want to say the opposite of everyone most of the time just to cause trouble. Admins you can lock this thread now, it's useless apparently according to this MMA expert.

YOU made the thread flexible bro. I chose to talk about current WWE. What's the problem g?

The idea of the thread is fine. But the discourse in it was sadly not.

I'll keep the thread locked but end it with a few wrestlers who also are bonafide MMA fighters.

Kazuyuki Fujita, Masakatsu Funaki, Minoru Suzuki and Kazushi Sakuraba. All of them kept up successful MMA careers alongside their pro wrestling ones.

Sakuraba especially
