Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir took one more step towards getting back in title contention with his decision victory over Roy Nelson in the co-main event at UFC 130.

What was the high spot of this fight?

There weren't many, but the best of the bunch was probably Mir's judo throw of Nelson near the end of the first round. You don't often see that in a heavyweight fight.

Where do these guys go from here?

Frank Mir has been a contender at heavyweight for almost his whole career, and this win strengthens his hold on a marquee spot for the time being. Dana White was harsh in his assessment of Mir at the post-fight press conference, but admitted afterwards that he was too harsh on Mir. Dana was clear that Mir isn't in line for a title shot, so his next bout is hard to guess. The possibility of a Frank Mir vs. Junior dos Santos fight is there if Shane Carwin blows out dos Santos, but it's more likely that Mir will get someone coming up the ladder, perhaps Travis Browne.

Roy Nelson is not in the good books with the UFC at the moment, due to his inept performance in this fight. While he managed not to get finished, he had little to be happy about with his performance and is definitely not going to be in contention for a title any time soon. A bout with a guy like Travis Browne could be a possibility as well, but Nelson is likely looking at someone down the depth chart a bit, perhaps Mike Russow.

Watch it now, later, or never?

I'd certainly be tempted to go with never, but it was a meaningful bout near the top of a card so it might be worth a perusal later if you have the time to kill. It certainly wasn't the most entertaining bout of the event. Nelson didn't bring much into the cage other than his chin and his heart. Mir landed a lot, but not enough to make it worth going out of the way to watch.
