PlayStation NEO?

There have recently been many rumours about Sony working on a new and improved version of the Playstation 4 console. It is commonly believed that Sony’s current console (Playstation 4) is not powerful enough to keep up with modern gaming technology which is why they have decided to work on a new strategy in order to keep the sales up for their consoles within the long run. It is also believed that Playstation NEO/4.5 will have more suitable hardware to handle Playstation VR, which is set to launch this October.

Most of what is known about the Playstation NEO heavily relies on speculation and theories, however certain news websites like Giant Bomb state that: “The NEO will feature a higher clock speed than the original PS4, an improved GPU, and higher bandwidth on the memory”, however other hardware such as the HDD will stay the same.

It is noted by the website that games will run on both the new and the old PlayStation consoles with NEO running the games with an improved visual fidelity as well as a higher frame rate. It is also possible that the console’s CPU will become more powerful and efficient due to new improvements in chip architecture.

The console’s release date is currently unknown, however it is most likely to be released after the PlayStation VR launches in October due to the fact that many consumers will be looking for a console that is powerful and optimised enough to run their new VR purchase. The price will be higher than the original PlayStation 4 by £50-£100, depending on how different NEO will be from the old console. The price also depends on whether Sony continues the current hard disks options of 500GB or 1TB.

In the end it is too early to say how much the Playstation NEO will differ from the original console, as new changes and upgrades will most likely be announced by Sony within the upcoming months, so it is a good idea to wait for further news before making any large decisions on whether to buy the console.

I think this will be the time to get my PS4. Although I really do want an Xbox One.

It is more the upcoming games and the VR when it gets released. I don't think any games currently are too powerful for it.

It's all because consoles these days are pretty much computers and computers constantly upgrade. It sucks that I'll have to shell out another 500+ dollars for another system though.

Which is why I'm glad I've waited before getting either the PS4 or Xbox One. It doesn't help I still don't know which one I want. I will eventually own both, but until then, I don't know which one to get first.

I prefer my PS4 the way it is... It's just a way to get more money from their costumers. They know they'll buy right into it as well... Don't know much about this Neo crap, but i ain't getting it.

Yea I had to get a 1tb myself. More money, I had to end up spending. And I was really looking forward to getting vr. Now I would have to another console just for that...I think not. Not unless they announce in June that Bethesda is dropping the next elder scrolls game in vr. Then I'm gonna be broke...I'm not a materialistic person. Gaming and weed is all I spend cash on other than bills. Fuck, Sony for making me choose between the two. LoL
