Early Title for The Terminator Reboot Is Terminator: Genesis
Film will be the first in a new trilogy.
by Scott Collura DECEMBER 9, 2013

We just heard last week that a new Terminator TV show is in the works which will tie into the Terminator reboot movie. And now it looks like the film has an early title too: Terminator: Genesis.

Production Weekly has the word on the title, which could certainly change at some point as the film is still just in the pre-production phase. Things are so early, in fact, that director Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) -- widely reported to be working on casting the film -- hasn't even been officially confirmed as the helmer.

Still, reports last month indicated that Taylor is considering Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Brie Larson (21 Jump Street) and other actresses to play a young Sarah Connor in the picture. The characters John Connor and Kyle Reese also reportedly figure into the film, and Arnold Schwarzenegger is said to be already set to return to the franchise that made him a star.

Terminator: Genesis is currently scheduled for a July 1, 2015, release.

Jason Clarke Up for John Connor Role in Terminator: Genesis
And who's testing for the roles of Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese?
by Jim Vejvoda DECEMBER 11, 2013

Zero Dark Thirty actor Jason Clarke is reportedly in talks to play John Connor in Terminator: Genesis, the fifth installment in the James Cameron-created series.

Terminator would mark the second sci-fi franchise that Clarke has become the lead in following next summer's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Thor: The Dark World's Alan Taylor will direct Terminator: Genesis, which will also reportedly see Arnold Schwarzenegger return.

According to Variety, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Brie Larson (Short Term 12) have re-tested for the role of Sarah Connor. Clarke's said to be the front runner with a final decision expected to be made by the end of this week.

Once Sarah Connor is cast then actors -- including Tron: Legacy's Garrett Hedlund and X-Men: First Class' Nicholas Hoult -- will be tested for the movie's other male lead, resistance fighter Kyle Reese, next week.

Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier wrote the screenplay for Skydance and Annapurna. Paramount will release Terminator: Genesis on July 1, 2015.

Emilia Clarke Cast as Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genesis
Game of Thrones' Khaleesi wins female lead in next installment.
by Jim Vejvoda DECEMBER 13, 2013

The mother of dragons is also the mother of mankind's future savior.

Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke has won the role of Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genesis, reports Variety. Clarke, who had been vying for the role with Short Term 12's Brie Larson, was cast following a screen test. Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) was recently cast as Sarah's revolutionary son John Connor.

It's interesting to note that Terminator: Genesis will be directed by Alan Taylor, who has directed Emilia Clarke on Game of Thrones. That HBO series, of course, also stars Lena Headey, who played Sarah in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

The filmmakers will now cast the other male lead role of Kyle Reese, with Variety saying the three front runners are Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class), and Boyd Holbrook (The Host).

Arnold Schwarzenegger is also set to return to the franchise that made him an A-list star, according to Variety.

Terminator: Genesis opens July 1, 2015.

Terminator: Genesis Script “Fantastic”, says Schwarzenegger
Production set to kick off this April in New Orleans.
by Luke Reilly MARCH 2, 2014

Debate continues to rage among Terminator fans as to the relevance of the murkily-positioned reboot/sequel Terminator: Genesis, but series stalwart Arnold Schwarzenegger has given the script an enthusiastic thumbs-up.

“The movie preparation is going well. The script is fantastic so I’m really looking forward to this film,” Schwarzenegger told TheArnoldFans.com during a fan event at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio.

“I’m really looking forward to that because as you know, the last time when they did the Terminator, it was when I was Governor and so I couldn’t be in that movie but now I’m back again and they are very excited about having me in the film.”

Schwarzenegger also confirmed the roughly four-month-long shoot is set to begin in April. It’ll be shot primarily in New Orleans, which syncs with unconfirmed reports back in January the project was headed to Louisiana.

Schwarzenegger will be joined by Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor and Spartacus: Blood and Sand’s Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese in the film.

Helmed by Thor: The Dark World and Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor, Terminator: Genesis is set to open on the US July 4th weekend, 2015.

Terminator: Genesis May Revisit Key Moments from Original Films
Will we get mullets?
by Anthony Couto MARCH 4, 2014

Potential SPOILERS for Terminator: Genesis ahead!!

There's been a lot of confusion surrounding the timeline of Terminator: Genesis. Is it a remake/revamp/sequel or what?!

Sources have reportedly told Moviehole that Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), John Connor (Jason Clarke), Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney), and Arnold Schwarzenegger's titular Terminator will revisit specific scenes from 1984's The Terminator and 1991's Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The site adds that along with the original characters, a couple of newcomers will round out the cast. The franchise may then "be passed to [these characters] for future installments."

Apparently, events will play out differently this time around, thus altering the timeline. Moviehole likens the film's time-travel effects to Back to the Future II, and Schwarzenegger's character to Leonard Nimoy's Old Spock in Star Trek (2009).

Terminator 5 - Alan Taylor Interview01:16
Moments that are said to be featured from the 1984 film include Schwarzenegger's Sarah Connor killing spree, as well as his crossing paths with Det. Hal Vukovich, Lt. Ed Traxler, Sarah's roommate (Ginger), and even Pugsley the Iguana, whilst "in the leather jacket and cool sunglasses he wore in the original." Kyle Reese's visit back in time to save Sarah will also play a key role.

A scene from the 1991 sequel includes the T-1000 (originally played by Robert Patrick), posing as a police officer, who kills John's foster parents, as well as "several other key moments" from the film.

Are you happy to see these scenes play out on screen again? Or would you prefer the franchise leaves the Cameron films alone?

Helmed by Thor: The Dark World's Alan Taylor, Terminator: Genesis opens on July 1, 2015.
