LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KTLA) -- A teenage girl and her boyfriend are being held without bail in connection with the murders of the girl's mother and step-father, whose bodies were found in shallow graves in Long Beach and Norwalk.
A 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were arrested late Wednesday night on suspicion of murder. Their names have not been released because of their age.
The victims were reported missing from their home in Compton on Tuesday "under suspicious circumstances," said Lt. Mary Leef of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The family gave detectives the names of the woman's daughter and the daughter's boyfriend.
The girl had been seen discarding some of her mother's belongings, neighbors said.
One neighbor told KTLA he asked the girl where her mother was, and she told him that she was in the hospital having surgery.
The mother's body was found Saturday, partially buried in a vacant lot in Norwalk, after a passerby noticed a foul smell.
Late Wednesday night, the suspects gave detectives information about the location of the step-father's body, authorities said.
He was found buried in a vacant lot on Atlantic Avenue and Artesia Boulevard in North Long Beach, about a block from the couple's home.
Police have not said anything about a possible motive, but friends suggested that the girl may have been sexually abused by her step-father.
"The only thing she told me was that she got raped," one friend told KTLA.
The causes of death for the mother and step-father have not been determined.
