WWE announces the release of Simon Gotch - Cageside Seats
WWE Tweeted out the following moments ago, pointing fans to an article on the company’s website announcing the release of former NXT tag team champion Simon Gotch of SmackDown’s The Vaudevillains:

The post at WWE.com contains the standard language for this sort of thing, and indicates Gotch may have asked to be freed from his deal:

WWE has come to terms on a mutually agreed upon release with Simon Gotch as of today, April 5, 2017. WWE wishes Gotch the best in all his future endeavors.

Gotch has yet to comment.

While Gotch and his turn-of-the-20th century strongman gimmick will probably be just fine on the independent circuit (where he first caught WWE’s eye working as Ryan Drago for years before being signed in 2013), you have to wonder what this means for his tag partner Aiden English.

Their team was involved in the main roster tag title picture briefly before the brand split, but has struggled to get on television of late, the occassional multi-man match aside.

Best of luck to Gotch, and we’ll keep you posted regarding any other news about the circumstances of his exit... or others that may follow.

Sucks to see him go, but he's not much of a significant loss.

Best of luck to Simon in his future endeavours.

I wonder what they'll do with Aiden English now, I see him being jobbed out for a year before being released

Sad thing to hear, but he wasn't getting any T.V time anyway as depressing as that sounds. The Vaudevillains had so much potential, and showed what they truly could do back down in NXT. Sucks to see how they were treated on the main roster though. I hope that Aiden English is sent back down to NXT, for him to recoop there and for them to decide what to do with him next. Hope he has a singles run.

Man ... It sucks to see Simon Gotch go. To be honest, he was my favorite member of the Vaudevillians. Lets hope English does aright by himself

Hopefully Gotch will shine in whatever he does next and maybe when Vince finally leaves or dies in 40,000 years, Trips will bring The Vaudevillians back together and let them shine like they did in NXT.

(Vaudevillians will always be my favorite tag team of all time)

Where yo' grandma stay.
Hopefully Aiden English does something now. I'd love to see him bring back the singing/artist gimmick for his early NXT days.
