We’re having conversations – I have been approached about it. The timing’s a bit challenging because of COVID. You know, we only started the conversation maybe a month and a half ago, so it’s going to take some time to figure out how it’s all going to work out... We’re negotiating, so we’ll see.

Scream 5 will be held by the filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, directors of "Ready or Not".

The two directors wrote me a very touching letter about Wes Craven and how he was such an inspiration to them and how they really want to honor him, and that meant a great, great deal to me. So we’ll see. Hopefully we can all see eye to eye on the project and find a way to make it.

Campbell added: “I’m so grateful for these films… I love Sidney Prescott. It’s always fun for me to step back in her shoes, and it’s always fun for me to see the cast come back and make one of these films again and try to make another good one.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the Scream movies. So if they’re gonna do this, I’m all in.

Let me tell you I had a huge crush on Neve Campbell growing up(Should make a Thread for people who had Childhood crushes growing up to come together) and with her apart of the project I'm so in for this. I hope they can get it off the ground.

The original Scream was a huge part of my youth. I'm on the fence about a 5th film. But if it happens Sidney has to be involved somehow. Also they picked a good director with The Ready or Not guy. That was a fun horror-comedy so his style should fit a Scream film.

And, to keep the news coming, it doesn't need a new topic cause we do have this topic. Scream 5 is officially confirmed with David Arquette signing on officially for the movie. Kevin Williamson is on board as an executive producer.

Good shit if you ask me.

@Broken God hope you are ready for another round Of Ghostface.

Ghostface will be making his return sooner rather than later. We recently got confirmation that Scream 5 is not only happening, but that it won't be a reboot. Instead, this will be a sequel that will help honor Wes Craven's legacy. Now, we have word that Spyglass Media intends to film the movie later this year in Wilmington, North Carolina, with new safety protocols in place that will allow them to do so.

According to a new report, the studio currently plans to get cameras rolling on Scream 5 this fall. When the project was first announced, the hope was to begin shooting in May. However, the ongoing production shutdown made that impossible. Bill Vassar, Executive Vice President at EUE/Screen Gems in Wilmington, explained that he expects new industry safety protocols to be revealed soon so that filming can resume, not just on this movie, but on many projects that have been pushed back. Vassar also expressed optimism about the sequel making its way to North Carolina.

As far as specifics for Scream 5 go, plot details are being kept tightly under wraps for the time being. Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet (Ready or Not) have been tapped to direct, with James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) and Guy Busick (Ready or Not) penning the screenplay. It was recently confirmed that David Arquette will reprise his role as Dewey Riley. Neve Campbell has also revealed that she is in talks to return as Sidney Prescott, but she has yet to sign on the dotted line. Matthew Lillard has also expressed his interest in returning as Stu from the first movie.

The franchise has been dormant for nearly a decade with the last entry, Scream 4, hitting theaters in 2011. Wes Craven, who passed away in 2015, directed all four previous entries. Scream is one of the most successful slasher franchises in history, with the movies collectively grossing $603 million at the global box office. Kevin Williamson, who penned the original movie and worked closely alongside Wes Craven on the series, is serving as an executive producer on Scream 5.

How could Stu return in a 5th Movie when he's dead welp it is the Movie biz anything is possible. How many times have we've seen big Horror Giants like Myers and Jason return from death or near it. Good to see their is a plan in place to film this fall, and if I go by that I guess 2022 would be the Release Date if all goes well. They could Release it December 20th in honor of the first film!

We never saw Stu actually die. The tv in the head could have only injured him. I just always assumed he was in the looney bin this whole time.

Crap you might be right and they could easily say he lost his memory while being in the looney bin and someone or something triggers his memories.

No Wes Craven :worried

I hope they do right by him. Scream 4 was a great return to form, I hope this movie is as good of a sequel. I'm glad Neve is back as SIdney, that is integral.

I’m honestly far more worried that Kevin Williamson wasn’t attached to this. They tried that in Scream 3.

I still like the final film of the trilogy, but it’s the weakest.
