There used to be wrestling company whose top stars were over 40 and they failed to make new ones and it went out of business.

Please, I'm not making a direct comparison here. This is about current stars becoming a little stale in spite of their great ability or presence. Here we are at Wrestlemania again and again we have John Cena, Edge and Batista in the main event.

Before you lynch me, all I'm saying is maybe instead of leaving guys off the card or dumping them in MITB, why not create a triple threat title match? What about a stand alone feud? It's working for Sheamus. Chris Jericho isn't on this list because he hasn't main evented ENOUGH manias!

There's about 14 other PPVs per year to give us second-rate triple-threat matches with guys TRYING to prove themselves.

Personally I have no gripe with the WM card (apart from that they may well be missing the boat on Taker/Cena.).

Taker/Cena would have been epic this year after the Tombstone in Madison Square Garden.

Don't worry, it will happen next year. But I was also pissed that there was no Cena/Taker, it made me mega excited for this year's WM since I figured for sure they'd do it.

The entire point of this Mania is to showcase younger talent, and that the younger talent is finally rising up and getting hungry.
Sheamus vs. HHH
Legacy vs. Orton
10 man MITB with mostly young talent

It's a pretty big theme on the card this year. There aren't any younger guys who are ready to be main eventing the PPV at this point. If by next year we aren't seeing someone like Sheamus, Miz or even Morrison in a main event then something is definitely wrong... then you can bitch.

If Taker can stick it out another year.

Look at Rey vs. Punk and HHH vs. Sheamus. Neither matches are for belts and have has decent build up (Although I think the family thing with Rey was very rushed). Think about it unless the build is drop dead amazing, no one is going to care about Bourne vs. Swagger vs. MVP grudge match on WM lol That can be saved for a minor PPV.

Is anyone else beginning to wonder if they skipped Taker vs. Cena to stroke HBK's ego for a rematch. I'm not disappointed by that match but it just occurred to me...

^^^You mean to convince him not to retire?

Possible I guess, but no real way of knowing... Maybe the route to that lies with who HBK could/would have faced otherwise. If nothing special, then yeah, maybe HBK did say something along the lines of "well, if that's all you got for me you don't need me any longer".

Then again, maybe HBK announced his desire to retire and it was indeed THAT which forced Vinces hand to do something bigger for him.

^^^Yeah, either one is plausible. All the biggest stars wield mighty backstage power swords and HBK isn't any different. I guess we'll know Monday morning.

I assume that if he DOESN'T retire then you may have been on to something.

I'm surprised everyone would prefer Cena vs Undertaker over HBK/Taker 2 streak vs career...

But yeah give it another year for this fresh set of young guys to grow and then if its still the same old Batista vs Edge, Cena vs HHH main event or whatever then we can bitch. Lol. There is some really good talent in the hands of WWE right now. More than I can remember in a while. And if they don't drop the ball with them then I have hope for the future of the WWE.

The stip for Taker/HBK is the only interesting aspect for me (tho' I applaud all involved in this grogram for reinvigorating my interest as much as this has).

Whereas having the two of the most unbeatable men in WWE history face off @ WM and the prospect of the streak bearing broken is entirely real... Well, it's a big as it gets really and the epitome of what Mania is about IMO.

HBK isn't retiring, just taking time off. You think they wouldn't build his final match up to be bigger then this? This match hasn't even had close to the amount of build last years did.

^^^Which would render this match a colossal waste of time. By implication you'd be proving the theory that all of this is to stroke HBK's ego.
