Not sure if many of you have seen this yet but NXT's Patrick Clark recently had something to say about the fans chanting for whatever they wanted during shows.
Just looking for any thoughts you may have on the matter...
Keeping in mind that this could just be a work but even if it's a work there has to be a little bit of his genuine feelings being thrown into that and I do think he's serious... I just think he's using his opinion for an angle & then the only part that might be a work is the part where he's trying to be mean but there has to be a little truth in there so either way...
My opinion on this is that the fans are the one's buying your product. You should be worrying about giving them there moneys worth...
"We made it that way" ?? ....No "We" didn't make it any way, WWE went ahead and tried to make it THAT way without our opinion on the subject is the way I look at it. It's always been the fans who decided who was over. None of the "previous generations" of Pro Wrestlers or promoters ever had anything to say about that because that's how showbiz works.
And WWE does not own professional wrestling so they don't get to change the universal outlook on professional wrestling. They can run their company a certain way & the idea can be encouraged sure, that's their prerogative but the Pro Wrestlers on that show are not necessarily sole property of WWE as they are independent contractors, they also do not own the fans.
Some of us love to go see just 1 or 2 certain independent contractors in a Pro Wrestling match because we are supporting THEIR brand & not necessarily WWE's... That's what it is by the way ...A Pro Wrestling Match. Those 2 independent contractors are Pro Wrestlers & that's what they do. You can't take 2 Professional "wrestlers" put them in the middle of a "wrestling" ring & have them "wrestle" and say it's not Pro Wrestling but yet something you invented. It doesn't matter what WWE or some of their employees who are trying to support the garbage WANT to call it, it's still wrestling.
And some of our money goes a certain "wrestler" in the industry that we paid to see & support. So we're allowed to cheer for that person. If it's not who the WWE wants us to cheer for, well then that's too bad for them & they need to stop being the one's who are crying like little babies about it just because they're not getting their own way. If we don't want to support THEIR brand or the guy who they are pushing... tough cookies. This is the Pro Wrestling business that YOUR company is within even though you stole it & tried to name it something else. Therefor we can support which ever independent contractor's brand that we want and that's the way WWE made it! Vince is the one that won't unionise the boys so they are independent contractors which means we're not buying tickets solely to see WWE, that's how you wanted it and that's what ya got!
Ya don't own the fans Patrick....
NONE of the great old timers I use to watch growing up use to complain about this stuff... they actually encouraged it. If Roddy Rowdy Piper heard this wimp crying he would slap him in the mouth & tell him to go home and tell it to his mommy.
Interaction makes wrestling fun... Not just chanting along with whatever you want us to chant along with like robots. You programmed fans to have an "attitude" & do what they wanted for years & years & then complain when it comes back to bite you because YOU'RE providing crappy "entertainment" and they won't be complacent with it? ...Sorry, it doesn't work that way.
When the fans have fun you make money... when they're bored they will let you know. Or they will let you know when they want a different guy, so go sign him like a smart business man instead of wondering why they don't accept the crap that you're giving them now.
Just because you don't like to interact with them or maybe they don't even want to interact with you, but somebody else instead ...because your name is vanilla ....doesn't mean that's "how pro wrestling is now"
That might be how you like your "entertainment" but this is still the Pro Wrestling business & the audience decides who gets over.
The way Pro Wrestling works & you're not just going to up and change the rules because it's pretty much how any show biz works. The fans make the stars... Whoever is popular gets cheered. The fans will always cheer for who they want, in any type of entertainment. The "Pro Wrestling" fans decide who is over ...because those are the fans that stay involved so if the fans are cheering for some other guy during your boring matches then YOU'RE NOT OVER
Time to get a new job... or try harder, sorry that may have seemed a little harsh but I tend to get a little angry when people call me trash Patrick.
If the fans are cheering for some other guy while 2 other guys are in the ring then common sense tells you they're not seeing enough of that guy that those fans are cheering for because THAT guy is over! The fans pretty much tell you what to do to be successful. That's the way it's always been but if you're not listening & then get mad because they don't like what's in the ring then that's just plain stupidity but "oh they could have just not bought a ticket" ???
What kind of a business tells their fans NOT TO BUY IT! ....That just baffles me guys I dunno.
If they don't cheer for the guy in the ring, than they don't want the guy in the ring, it's pretty simple. And it's not just the fans you don't like... if that's all you're hearing at the show then THAT'S THE FANBASE ...If the fanbase isn't liking it than you've got no business and you try to fix it by saying "well just don't come anymore" Are you kidding me?
And by the way... it doesn't matter if the fanbase is right or wrong or being mean to you. Do you think Wal-Mart cares what kind of people are buying the stuff on their shelves? ...No, they just care whether or not it's selling. The "Patrick Clark Experience" is just going to make them cheer for CM Punk even louder until they get what they want Patrick.
You can be frustrated all you want that you're not over or the other guy in the ring with ya... but don't take it out on the fans because that's why you're there in the first place.
