"
My vision is a lot bigger than being the first wrestler of a background to do something," he told Al Jazeera.

Ali, who is also a practising Muslim, added: "Someone with my name and my appearance comes with preconceived ideas attached.

"My mission is to erase as many preconceived ideas, barriers and stereotypes as I can."

"I remember one kid ... he said to me it's always cool to see someone you consider a role model doing something big and chasing their dreams, but it's even cooler when that person looks like you," Ali recalled.

"When he said that, I really realised it's true. It's a little easier to relate to someone when you feel 'hey that's me. That's how I look and it's someone with the same concerns I have growing up'.

I don't really know much about the guy but I am glad to see WWE letting people be themselves and not holding them back because of where they come from or what they believe in. This company has come a long way to say the least.

I am glad Mustafa Ali is getting a chance to shine and be himself and not be a stereotypical Middle Eastern person by WWE. The guy is a great wrestler and while I don't know him personally he seems to be a really chill guy. Also, another person who has broken a religious barrier is Aleister Black as well.

Sami Zane is Muslim as well.

Ali I think is under rated. He is one of the best cruiser weights and he has one of the best finshers in the company.

He's come a long way since being booed upon introduction at the Cruiserweight classic. That they stuck to that and built on it is actually pretty cool. They could have so easily gone with the flow and made him just another heel but they allowed him to remain babyface and build his character around and above his background

I mean, no one knows who you are so you haven't shattered that many barriers.
