Pay the man.

Also proves that wrestling doesn't draw in viewers, it's characters and drama that do.

Not to mention it clearly shows that the lapsed fans only tune in when something done backstage is addressed on TV, because that's the only thing they think is real, which is why most lapsed fans only listen to the "old bitter talking head podcasts" and don't watch anything current until something like this happens.

Tony will be happy to when he signs his extension.

Was stupid to penny pinch him to begin with.

Roman Reigns was given a raise within two years of his main roster run.....Tony Khan couldn't see that this guy was their future and keep him happy?

If any of this shit was even true.

Like I said in the other thread... with the contract still going for over 18 months and with how MJF became one of the biggest figureheads of AEW AND with the quality of performances he brought since the beginning (and I actually do ignore the numbers in the graphic up there, because those are always to take with a grain of salt), I think you could easily give him more money now, without hard-lining about an extension.

Because even if he ends up leaving AEW in early 2024, you can be pretty sure he's worth the raise for what he could deliver over the next 18 months.

The man is making way too much noise about leaving for WWE when his contract runs out. Why pay him more so he can turn around and leave you and make even money from Vince in the process. No reason he can’t sign an extension that gives him a bump for his current 18 months that will then kick in a second bump for the extended portion of his new deal. He gets two pumps.

And Tony is then secure in knowing MJF isn’t just getting Tony to pay him more as leverage to make even more to leave him in 2024. MJF had given Tony zero reason to trust he’s negotiating under good faith with his antics.

Exactly this. Like, Tony has no reason to trust the guy, at all. Like I 100% agree MJF deserve a raise, and surely should be one of the top paid guys in the company. But the man has to give a little, to get a lot. Like even a year or two more would probably be good enough tbh. By then his asking price could even go higher which is a win win for him as he could end up with even more money in 2025 or 2026.

Who's saying he hasn't already signed an extension?

Anyone honestly believe CM Punks contract was up the night he won the title?

Everything's a work.

If he signed one, I’m sure he got a well deserved pay bump. :cudi

And if he fucks off anyway in 18 months, you've paid a guy more money for no reason. It's a carny business. Trusting a wrestler is like trusting a wrestling company. Not wise

Deezy might be right on him signing an extension after the sit down on Monday tho. Now do the slow build to the title win (I wouldn't have him win the interm belt)

...it has nothing to do with trusting him. If he's going, he's going, you can't change that, but you can be an actually good employer and give your worker the raise he or she deserves due to the work and performance they put in over the last 3 years. You wanna do business differently than Vince and actually make a difference for the better in the whole industry? Well then do business differently and be the better employer.

It's business and if anything closer to sports. No sports is giving you free money without you resigning unless poorly run. If MJF wants a pay rise, he would need to sign an extension and MJF himself knows that. Hell what you are suggesting is literally being a money mark and what people criticize Khan for being.

I have to strongly disagree. If you know for a fact he’s leaving, why pay him more than he agreed to.

If he wants to ultimately quit early it is what it is, but keeping him for 18 months is useless in the end if he’s not actually going to be the future of your company.
