Linda McMahon political opponent Christopher Shays bluntly argued this week that the former professional wrestling executive should not be running for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate position for Connecticut because she is an unsuitable candidate. McMahon, whose background with WWE became an unflattering focus of her last campaign, was once again railed for her past ties to the professional wrestling organization.

In an interview with The New York Times, Shays listed "some of the more distasteful episodes" in the history of WWE, including husband Vince McMahon's penchant for dropping his trousers and underwear in the middle of the ring and having wrestlers kiss his bare buttocks. It is known as the "Mr. McMahon Kiss My Ass Club."

"You're clearly not a social conservative when you do those things, and you're clearly not a fiscal conservative when you spend $50 million so wastefully," Shays says.

Linda should just give up. She has been too deeply involved in management and creative control to have it "go away"

I heard WWE went PG because of her campaign. But WWE went PG in 2008 and now it's 2012. So she's been running for 4 years? :bury::upset::sad::pity:

She's running for my state as a republican, when 75% is democrat. I'm gonna vote for her anyway though because of the WWE blackmail. I'll spread the word to my senior class, and we will take back what is rightfully mine! :pissed:

I wouldn't want Linda McMahon becoming a Senator of any kind, but this is a lame attempt at an argument by her opponent. What kind of programming is on WWE television is irrelevant to her ideas for Senate. Her being a Republican, I'm sure her ideas are terrible enough (and thus easy enough to attack) without bringing the WWE into it.

American politics seem to be based on talking about another candidate's past and the bad things regarding it other than actually convincing people to vote for you by saying good things about yourself or what you are going to do for them.

lol @ these being problems with 'American' politics. Politics are politics, they aren't better or more righteous anywhere else. It's a joke everywhere, as is government as a whole. They are all frauds and liars, the ones who get elected are the ones who are best at lying and best at digging up dirt on who they are running against.

No way. I studied politics for years - it's definitely worse in America than elsewhere. Well, Italy and France have moronic presidents but their system isn't as flawed. Every person in my class were united on the opinion that American politics is just damn right Blue and corrupt.

You'll see again this year with Ron Paul - you watch.
