For the last year or so, Cena's work has been seriously lacking to me. Granted he's aging, but to me it seems moreso that he's just lazy and unmotivated now. He's pulling an Orton and half-assing it unless the opponent is worth putting over. (AJ Styles)

Also to me, the aura of beating Cena clean has lost it's shock value to me.
So now that there's talks of having Taker and Cena face off at Mania, it's more reason not to watch it or be intrigued by it.
2010 or 2011 would have been the perfect year to do it, but now it's too late IMO.
The thing that people fail to realize is that Cena is slowly fading away and so is his aura. It literally isn't John Cena's show anymore.

We have Reigns, Strowman, Styles, Owens, Rollins, Nakumura, etc.
Names that show up weekly and draw. No one even questions if he's gone anymore.

The thing that ruined his superman aura was having him lose on free television in 10 minute matches against Ambrose and Nakumura. I was okay with him losing clean on PPV's since they rarely happen often for said brand. (12-13 shows a year)

But free television losses killed him IMO. But yeah, just wanted to say Cena is still whack but in a different way.

People he's lost to in the past 5 years clean:
- Daniel Bryan
- Brock Lesnar
- Alberto Del Rio
- Kevin Owens
- AJ Styles
- Dean Ambrose
- Shinsuke Nakumura

lmk if im missing someone

wait wtf Dave Meltzer posted this 9 hours ago or some shit. He read my thread obv and got inspiration. /s

Dave Meltzer said:
"In trying to phase John Cena down, they've phased John Cena down. In the sense he doesn't feel special at all anymore. He use to feel like a big superstar, tonight it felt like 3 guys in the main event.

John doesn't come across as a big star. Before if you beat John Cena, it was a big deal. It didn't feel like a big deal, it felt like meh he's just another guy now.

They should have done a better job protecting their biggest star. Not that Cena should never lose, but should lose when it's important he loses.

Elias was a nobody after the end of it, even after beating Cena. The idea was to get Braun over, they were focusing on him and putting him over strong. The problem was the time between the powerslam and the pin, people were flat with the finish. There was no expectation or booking in this to get Elias over, if there was they wouldn't have done what they did at the end."

They didn't need to sacrifice both guys, they could of had Elias get the win, roll out of the ring and have Braun powerslam Cena twice. That would be abusing John Cena but they're abusing Cena anyway. They're so intent on getting Braun over that they're sacrifacing everybody for him, part of the problem is he's not winning at EC. They don't want to hurt him.

I don't know how I feel about Cena. Like to me, he should be putting over a select few younger talents rather than only facing names that already have value going for them. I am not sure where they plan on going with him but I hope they use him better. He is the highest profile name they have and since he is a part timer now, his presence should make a bigger impact than it has been.

That's like the wrong way to look at it IMO.
If they want to make use of him again, they gotta bring back Super Cena or just turn him heel.
Otherwise, he really has no place on the roster. He's just another guy. He's lost too much to the point he's not important anymore. He's not even on top of merch sales anymore.

This is how he should be used but isn't being used regardless. Be it down to too many losses or bad booking. I mean Nikki turned heel. They may as well turn him heel. Maybe they want him to go under the radar for awhile and not seem like a big deal anymore so allow other guys to come up with sales and overall value. If this is the case, a heel turn would put him back at the number one spot again for sure but maybe they don't want that. I really don't know what they are going for anymore with him.

He's busy right now with other commitments. If he figures out his schedule, he could definitely get a last good run with him.

I want it to be as a heel. Let his merch sales drop so low it tempts them. I have wanted this since 2010.

I think it kinda makes sense that Cena isn't the same anymore. Maybe WWE want him to hit rock bottom so that he can climb the mountain again and break the record.

Every day that goes by, it feels more likely that Cena is gonna turn heel. After years of not caring about the boos, it finally seems like its got to him. From a character arc point of view its quite interesting. Wouldn't be surprised if he loses to Taker at Mania. He is no longer "big match John"

Cena has been slowly stepping away from wrestling. In 2 years tops he will be gone completely
No Wrestlemanias no nothing.
He might come back for a real breif Wrestlemania run or something, but never anything full time and hardly parttime

would have happened to Rock too if he didn't leave entirely once he turned to movies, but he was smart enough to turn his back on em before they threw him to the wolves
