EON Confirms New 007 Television Series To Premiere on BBC

The rumors and speculations have been proven true as Everything Or Nothing (EON) productions, the group responsible for the 007 James Bond films since 1962 have officially released to the press details on an upcoming James Bond television series. No details on who is all involved in the production have been announced, but it has been confirmed that current movie Bond actor Daniel Craig will not be involved in the television series. EON says they're looking to reset the series and fit it for television. According to sources, the television series will look to chronicle Bond's tenure as 007; the first season is supposedly a remake of the 2nd Ian Fleming novel and 8th James Bond movie "Live and Let Die", which sees Bond head to America investigating a drug lord named Mr. Big and his connection with a Caribbean dictator Dr. Kananga. Since Daniel Craig has been confirmed to not be Bond, several actors earmarked for the role of 007 include Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, Ryan Reynolds, and Jack O'Connell. The premiere of the series is said to be October 2020 on BBC and BBC America. More details will be made in a few days' time.

Main Cast:
Henry Cavill is 007

superman-star-henry-cavill-says-he-would-love-to-be-the-next-james-bond.jpg

EON Productions confirm that Henry Cavill has been chosen to play James Bond in the upcoming 007 Television Series, premiering this October. The former Superman and current Witcher actor was a runner-up in 2004 for casting in the Bond movies, but was considered too young for the role and Daniel Craig was picked over him. Sources inside EON state that Cavill's Bond will be less in-line with any of the movie Bonds and more of a character that will grow as the series continues. As a young Bond, Cavill's version is supposedly to be a naive jokester and ladies' man, similar to former Bond actor Sir Roger Moore.

Ralph Fiennes to play "M" on Television

xRalph_Fiennes.jpeg.pagespeed.ic._jZG_OPpBm.jpg
EON Productions announces that Ralph Fiennes has signed on to the 007 Television Series to play as MI6 administrator "M", whilst also portraying the role in the movies. The "M" character was made most famous by Bernard Lee, Robert Brown, and Fiennes's predecessor, Dame Judi Dench. After being interviewed regarding the role, Fiennes stated, "Portraying 'M' is a wonderful thing, truly. Despite being in two differing timelines, they're essentially the same character, and it's a tongue-in-cheek playful poke to the audience, who'll get to see me both in the movies and the television series."
Richard Ayoade to play Q in 007 Television Series

91.jpg
Richard Ayoade confirmed via Twitter that he has been chosen to play the mad scientist and developer of MI6: Q on the new 007 James Bond Television series. Ayoade has been a prolific comedic actor working in shows such at The IT Crowd, The Big Fat Quiz of the Year, and other shows. Q was made most famous by actor Desmond Llewelyn from 1963 to 1999. Q's character serves as the developer and comedic foil for James Bond when discussing Q's mad inventions and devices that, like a Chekov's gun, invariably help Bond in his misadventures.
Emilia Clarke to play Miss Moneypenny

emiliaclarke.jpg
Emilia Clarke has been confirmed to play secretary to MI6 head M, Miss Moneypenny, in the upcoming James Bond Television Series, premiering in October. Clarke, most famous for her role as Daenerys Targaryan on Game of Thrones, which ended last year, as well as Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genisys, and Qi'ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Moneypenny is the flirtatious foil to James Bond, serving as the one to keep him in check from getting too wild and to keep him on task. Ms. Moneypenny was made most famous by Lois Maxwell, who played the character from 1962 until 1985.
Jake Gyllenhaal is Felix Leiter on James Bond Television Series

sd-aspect-1490089288-jake.jpg
Jake Gyllenhaal has confirmed in an interview with BBC that he has been selected as James Bond's American counterpart: Felix Leiter. Gyllenhaal, famous for his roles in Donnie Darko, The Day After Tomorrow, and as Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which released last year. Leiter's character is that of a no-nonsense secret agent for the American Central Intelligence Agency, who helps Bond in matters regarding the US, Caribbean, and Japan. Leiter has been played by a myriad of actors since his debut in 1962's Dr. No.

Wait? What? Have I woken up in a dream? Is this April fools day?...

We'll see on this. Guess their thinking is that the movies might have peaked and will only go down in popularity. Ayoade as Q is brilliant. I like Gyllenhaal as Felix even more. Not so keen on Clarke as Moneypenny. Its just a posh bit of eye candy role. Would much prefer her playing a villian. The jury's out on Cavill.

@Grim Do you have a source for this story? Can't find it on the web.

Derek Luke To Play Mysterious Mr. Samedi

derekluke-missionimpossibleIII-2.jpg

Derek Luke has been selected to play a new role for the James Bond Television Series, a mysterious man named Mr. Samedi. According to sources, the character is a direct reference to Baron Samedi, the character and voodoo god of the dead portrayed by Geoffrey Holder in the 1973 James Bond film Live and Let Die. Although not entirely a 1-to-1 copy of Baron Samedi, the Mr. Samedi character is said to be a person interested in Bond's activities and will be involved in several stories as a third party to muddy the waters.

idris-elba-grooming-gq.jpg

British megastar Idris Elba has been announced to be playing the first Bond villain of the TV Series: Dr. Kananga. Elba, most famous for his work on The Wire, Prometheus, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, stated he was excited to be part of the Bond franchise in any capacity. Dr. Kananga was the villain of the 1973 Bond film Live and Let Die and was played by Yaphet Kotto, who was equally famous for his appearances in 1979's Alien, and 1987's Running Man. Questioned about filling Kotto's shoes as Kananga, Elba noted, "I've seen the film. Kotto is a spectacular villain in that one, I hope to be just as good as he was."

Zoey Deutch Selected As Mystic Solitaire

zoey-deutch-annie-trit-750x422.jpg

Vampire Academy and Zombieland actress Zoey Deutch has been officially cast as Dr. Kananga's psychic medium, Solitaire, in the upcoming 007 Television Series. Solitaire appeared in the 2nd Fleming novel as well as the 1973 film Live and Let Die, where she was portrayed by Jane Seymour. In the movie, Solitaire is seduced by Bond and becomes a protagonist; rumors have speculated that Solitaire instead may be mistreated and abused by Dr. Kananga, leading to her wanting to find a way out from his iron grip. Deutch, 25 years old, is the youngest actress in the main cast.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe's Falcon, Anthony Mackie, has been chosen to play the right hand man and main henchman of Dr. Kananga, Tee Hee Johnson, in the upcoming James Bond Television Series. The character first showed up in the 1973 EON film Live and Let Die, and was played by Julius Harris. In the film, Tee Hee had a pincer for an arm, which was used to tear apart Bond's gun. This version of Tee Hee is reported to be more of an adviser to Dr. Kananga and a foil for Bond this season.

Fast and Furious actor Tyrese Gibson has been cast as the enforcer to Mr. Big's gang of drug dealers, Whisper, in the upcoming James Bond television series' first season. The character of Whisper first appeared in the 2nd Fleming novel Live and Let Die, and was portrayed by Earl Jolly Brown in the 1973 film. The character debuted in 1973's Live and Let Die and was played by Gloria Hendry. In the film, she attempts to seduce Bond, but fails and is killed by one of Tee Hee's scarecrows. The new version of Rosie is said to be possibly similar, but no details regarding the role have been released.

Michael B. Jordan Cast as Bond Ally Quarrel

MichaelBJordan.jpg

Major Hollywood star Michael B. Jordan, known for his roles in Fuitvale Station and most recently as Adonis Creed in the Rocky movie sequels Creed, has been selected to play as Bond ally Quarrel. Differing from the film Live and Let Die, in which Bond's second ally was Quarrel Jr, the television series will have a differing version. Quarrel was originally seen in the 1962 Bond film Dr. No, where he was portrayed by John Kitzmiller. According to rumors, the Quarrel character will not be a one-off and will be seen in other Bond stories in the Television Series.

Holy fuck this cast looks awesome. Live and Let Die might be one of the top Bond films I'd like to see redone as I think it's one of the few that could be done quite a bit better. even though I did enjoy the original.

Live and Let Die is, I think, in my top 6 all time Bond films. I don't care that it's shameless blaxploitation and campy as fuck, I absolutely love it.

More Recurring Character News:

Due to COVID-19, the production of the James Bond tele-series was delayed by several months. The original season, Live and Let Die, was not yet filmed. Production of the series has officially begun this last month and a release of the episodes should be aired approximately in January of 2021. However, more news has followed as several new characters were announced for the tele-series.

Taron Egerton is Lieutenant Valentin Dmitrovitch Zhukovsky

GettyImages-1172055783.jpg

The man who brought Elton John to film in the film "Rocketman" last year will officially be playing Bond rival and Federal Security Service agent Valentin Dmitrovich Zhukovsky. The original role appeared in Pierce Brosnan's Bond debut, "Goldeneye" from 1995. The original Zhukovsky appeared as a former KGB operative turned mob boss, and was played spectacularly by sir Robbie Coltrane. A producer for the new Bond tele-series mentioned that, "Egerton is an incredible actor, and he has a very certain look about him that oozes some form of mischief and a darker edge. He's the perfect fit for this role."

Arthur Darvill is General Arkady Grigorovich Ourumov

97602.jpg

Arthur Darvill, most famous for his recurring role as Rory Williams in the science fiction show "Doctor Who" is supposedly pegged to be playing slimy Russian General Arkady Ourumov for the new James Bond tele-series. In 1995's "Goldeneye", General Ourumov was an major antagonist and an arch-enemy of James Bond. He was portrayed by German actor Gottfreid John. Another producer of the tele-series was said to have stated that Darvill has "what we are looking for, as far as appearances go. He's an accomplished actor in his own right and I'm certain he can bring Ourumov to life in this series." Supposedly, according to several leaks, General Ourumov and Colonol Gogol are to be rivals within the FSS; and that Valentin Zhukovsky is one of Ourumov's underlings in the rumored next season: The Living Daylights.
