Infinity Ward Dev Working on Bringing MW2's Terminal to MW3 for Free

Mark Rubin explained, via Twitter, that Terminal and Shipbreaker were added in preparation “for upcoming maps. Terminal is still on the fence but we are ready if we can launch that one.”

Mark Rubin openly admitted that the team behind Modern Warfare 3 is working on introducing terminal, one of Modern Warfare 2′s most beloved maps, to Modern Warfare 3.

The executive producer stated regarding why Terminal hasn’t been released yet, “ it’s a tech issue with delivery.” He went on to confirm that it will not be included in the DLC model, which mirrors what Ex-Infinity Ward employee Robert Bowling promised. Rubin assured, “yes [Terminal] will be free.”

Of course, there’s nothing final about the addition of Terminal, but Rubin seemed adamant about adding the map. He stated, “I may have to punch a bunch of people in the nuts but I am working my ass off to get terminal out.”

Rubin added, “Don’t have a firm ETA [on Terminal] yet probably soon. Will be looking at it next week to finalize its deployment.” It’s almost confirmed at this point, but “it’s possible [Infinity Ward] runs into issues with deployment. But seems likely we’ll be able to release it.”

Rubin thinks that the Xbox 360 one month exclusivity deal might have to be applied on Terminal’s release frame as well. Rubin hopes to get the map out in June, but he hasn’t looked into when it will be released.

In terms of the possibility of adding other Modern Warfare 2 maps, Rubin explained that right now it’s only Terminal being worked on. The map, when it is released for MW3, will be “updated a little.”

Terminal was an amazing map and I always had fun playing on it, especially in Search and Destroy. Too bad I don't own MW3 anymore. Got sick of it after 2-3 months.

They should release some more old CoD maps like CoD 4 maps such as Pipeline, Broadcast, and Crossfire. I think the best thing they could do is remake quite a few of the old CoD maps and sell them as one giant DLC.

Terminal was my JAM back in the day. I'd love to see Overgrown come back yet again and Bailout from the MW2 DLC. That was a great freaking map.

ZOMG Infinity Ward is giving us, the loyal consumer something for free!?! This is unheard of! Usually they nickel and dime us for everything.

They've kicked out a few things for free thru all these content drops. Several of the Faceoff mode maps, etc. 1v1, 2v2 isn't really my thing, but it's something. THe maps themselves are pretty solid from what I've played around on them.

Leaked Modern Warfare 3 ‘Terminal’ Gameplay

Gameplay footage of the Modern Warfare 2 map ‘Terminal’ has been leaked.

However, you may notice that this is, in fact, not gameplay from Modern Warfare 2. Instead, users have found a way to tweak the Modern Warfare 3 game files from the latest patch in order to make the map playable within Modern Warfare 3.

This footage below clearly demonstrates Modern Warfare 3 gameplay on the map ‘Terminal’, originally from Modern Warfare 2.

This comes shortly after the words that Infinity Ward’s Mark Rubin had to say regarding the remake of Terminal in Modern Warfare 3. You can read his statements in full right here.

In short, Rubin revealed that the team behind the game were, indeed, working on a way to bring the classic map to the MW3 audience. No further details have been given, however, other than it will be free and that we can expect it “probably soon†if the team can work around the technical issues they’ve been experiencing.
