“I don’t text him at all. And... in this business I’ve learned never to presume that someone’s not coming back, but if anybody’s not coming back, he’s the exception that defines the rule."
“I have news for everybody. I know this will come as a shock. I know this is the type of news... fans hate to hear. Ready? It’s a business. It’s a business.
‘So the stock, when CM Punk was champion was, what? 19? 20? 21? The stock is now at 80! $80 per share.
“Who was the main event of WrestleMania? Who is the main event of SummerSlam? Who’s the most featured performer? Who’s on all the billboards? Who’s on all the posters? Who right now has an advocate speaking for him on WFAN? Brock Lesnar. Stock’s at 80. Obviously something is being done that is correct.”
So with all that said and knowing Paul worked close with Punk, I think it is safe to say WWE doesn't need him and he doesn't need WWE. I know people tire of the topic but I thought it was interesting how he responded to the question of Punk returning and wanted to share it. I think it would get a HUGE reaction and it would get people more interested in WWE again on a core level if he did return but it wouldn't last forever. The explosion would become a fire, to a mere flame, then nothing but hot ashes. Maybe Punk knows that and it is part of the reason he doesn't want to return. He left on a high note and people will be talking about him for decades in terms of WWE.
He may be a loser in UFC, but he won here... Punk vs WWE is a 1 - 0 victory.
