Godfather should win this. Jaws is something I used to like as a kid but watching it as an adult it doesn't hold up.

Jaw gets it from me. It cemented Spielberg who gave us so many great movies wouldn't have happened without this. Not to mention all of the merits it holds on its own. I never got into the godfather films.

Damn, I suggested Jaws not thinking it would get nailed so hard this fast. The Godfather is by far better in script and acting. Just a great film. Jaws is still awesome though, but I went with Godfather.

Could you not make the case that in its own genre it is somewhat of a master piece? I am not a big Spielberg fan but with Jaws he really nailed it.

The first two Godfather movies were easily 20 years ahead of their time. You can make all the cases you want about Speilberg "nailing it", but no directer anywhere has ever nailed anything like Francis Ford Coppola did with those two masterpieces. Godfather I is practically the Mona Lisa of film imo. When you look at every other movie between 1972 and 1974 and compare them to those films, it's a fucking joke.

Jaws is one of my favourite films so I voted for that. Godfather I have seen once and I thought that it was good but not great.
