I liked the very first night The Rock returned on RAW on Valentine's Day in 2011 after he hadn't physically appeared on the show since 2004. I didn't like his new theme song "Electrifying" at first but I got used to it as he's been using it in all of his recent WWE appearances ever since then. The "I Bring It" slogan he had on his shirt also didn't make sense to me. The Rock's promo on his first night back was excellent, as he did all of his usual jokes and punchlines that we all remember him for : "Finally" "It Doesn't Matter" " Turn it sideways and stick it straight up your candy ass" except for the millions and millions bit in which he had to repeat it a few times to get the crowd cheering again. But it felt as if he never left, the later stuff he did was not as good as that first night back but this was John Cena we're talking about, Cena of course had some weak ass comebacks in comparison to what The Rock was doing. It definitely wasn't gonna be on the same level as a Rock and Stone Cold encounter, as Austin was just as popular as he was. The Rock came back during the PG Era when everything sucked. But he did somewhat make WrestleMania 27 through 29 a lot more interesting simply just from him being there even though he didn't wrestle at 27, the 28 match with Cena was good (even though he already came back at Survivor Series 2011 in the tag match with Cena against Miz and R-Truth) the WWE title match with CM Punk at the Royal Rumble in 2013 the year after that sucked, The Rock looked really rusty in his last few months, especially when he wrestled John Cena again at WrestleMania 29 and lost. That was the one when he got hurt and now he just makes cameo appearances here and there these days, aside from the 6 second win over Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32. So while not as good as Rock's late 1990's - early 2000's run when he was there full time, I think it was good for what it was, his wrestling days are pretty much over, as he spends most of his time in Hollywood now and the WWE these days also isn't what it was in The Attitude Era but it was still great to even see The Rock at all, even if he doesn't show up as much as he used to.

Rock should have just hosted mania 27 and faced Cena at 28, the rematch was pointless and ruined the rivalry for me and also the way Punk had to drop his title to Rock pissed me off.

Short answer, no. Long answer...I'd probably get banned for posting something that fucking long.

Nope. In fact, it's one of the biggest reasons I stopped watching the product for like three years (aside from the rest of the PPV's in 2013 which I only watched for this site and WM 31 & 32, both of which had agonizingly bad Rock segments). I thought his initial return was cool, though I didn't bother watching XXVII cause the card looked awful, and I liked his feud with Cena leading up to XXVIII (even thought the match was okay iirc [there 29 bout, not so much]). Hell, I don't even hate the idea behind the "Twice in a Life" story-line that most people did, my problem was that they really didn't commit to the angle properly by having Cena really fall following the loss and that their commitment to having the match didn't even consider that any alternative with Punk might've been better. Even though it would've pissed me off at the time, I wish they went with Punk's suggestion to do a triple threat elimination match, where he gets eliminated in five minutes since it seems like a fair enough compromise (WWE still gets Rock vs. Cena II for most of the main event, Punk gets his WM main event that he was so desperate for, and Punk's historic reign ends at 504 days [ending right after the 500 day milestone is something I figured WWE would've wanted to get to]).

But I spent most of my first tenure on this site bitching about how they went/were going about The Rock vs. Cena II, so I'll cut myself off here and say that I'm glad WWE "learned" from their mistakes and didn't do a WrestleMania main event repeat with a part-time world champion and an over-pushed 'face' despite having a hot act spring up that they should've taken advantage of.

My favorite part was when MSG chanted We Want Ryder during his big comeback

I liked the whole thing, and I get why they did it: the rock sells and sells big. He makes mania, PPV, Raw, Smackdown, etc. bigger, those are simply facts. And, at that the time, he could still throw down half way decent. While I’m a complete advocate for the mishandling of Punk at certain junctures, being a little overshadowed by the literally only the Rock and Cena wasn’t that bad...I mean it’s the Rock and Cena. The only thing I wish they would’ve done differently is make the match at Mania a triple threat match, adding Punk to their once a lifetime match. Then, even if Cena wins, let him pin the rock. Passing of the torch while still protecting Punks reign since he knows he didn’t get beat.

Punk losing his title, after such a a great reign, at the Royal Rumble was beyond dumb. The mini feud between Punk and Rock was gold and if they would’ve let it play into Mania, it only would’ve made more sense.

Honestly no. The rock is just never gonna be the guy we remember him as anyone. Attitude era is over. Can never really fully rewatch that magic. It was good seeing him there again tho. Fact is he's older and has changed. Not a bad thing but if you expect to see 2000 rock it's just not gone happen

honestly yeah, the entire John Cena feud had a legit dream match feel to it. WWE nowadays tries to market anything as a dream match but this was a legit match nobody thought would happen. Yea it happened twice, so what? Calling it once in a lifetime was a part of the storyline because we shouldn't have known that there was gonna be a rematch. Besides that, the Rock's stuff with Punk was great as well, and having him win the WWE title to then change the design of it right away felt so surreal and grand.

The only thing I didn't like was his last match with Cena at Mania 29, I felt like they could have done a better job with it, but the Rock got injured during that match so I can't really blame them for maybe cutting a few spots. Adding Punk to that match probably would have benefited them but I understand that they wanted a clean and traditional 1 on 1 match to cap off this feud.
And let's not talk about how it was for the business aspect because all I have to say is that Mania 28 is their most bought PPV of all time before jumping over to the network

The first Rock vs Cena was good. The build was pretty great. The Rock was just as good as ever ripping apart Cena in the PG era
