“You know who I think was really overlooked as an actor — I don’t know if he hasn’t pursued it as much as he’d like to because he’s still heavily pursuing professional wrestling — but is CM Punk, Phil Brooks. His potential in acting is pretty unlimited. So I really want to see more from him in acting. I’d actually love to work with him. Because I think he has a passion for acting, but I think still his heart is in professional wrestling. Until he’s able to let that go a little bit, he’ll never be able to fully envelop himself in acting. But I think Phil Brooks, he’s a great actor.”

isn't he already an actor, and I would say a fairly middle of the pack one as well? He's already been in a few indie wtv things and the tv show

Yeah that's what he's saying tho, he wants to see him do more projects. The Mayans thing I heard good things about, the movie I heard sucked and Heels I've heard mixed things but it looked alright to me, I'm glad it survived on Netflix

I just don't think Punk offers anything to Hollywood like Dave and Cena both do. he's not a monster of a man. He doesn't really have much of a soft side. He's like a C list Jeffrey Dean Morgan at the very highest compliment.

I don't mean to be harsh either, he is a fine enough actor and by wrestling standard he is obviously an excellent one. but hollywood acting? I just don't see what niche he would fill at all that better looking more talented actors couldn't do. I don't think he has the temperament to survive there, either.

I think his best roles will probably have to be things he like really can believe in bc his best wrestling promos are always those based in reality, but if he can really get into that character to deliver his lines like that it could be great. I just don't know how much range he'd actually have, I'd bet he does a Batista movie now tho like Drew bc Batista really seems to want to give wrestlers chances since he has some pull now

I agree, I do think some of it is using his own bitterness from the wrestling industry for good tho lol like trying to get wrestlers better opportunities outside of it after how WWE gave him no help and basically said he'd fail, they even laughed him off when he returned in 2014 bc they thought Guardians would flop (he'd filmed but it wasn't released)

yeah I remember reading about it and you telling me about this before. Vince and hjis cronies were such assholes. I wonder if Hunter also laughed at him

Im guessing it was more management, as they seemed for a long time to see themselves well above the wrestlers and the marks

I think HHH specifically did for Guardians himself yes but they're obviously still cool, I think Batista just hit him with the I told you so after lol most of it comes from when he first left in 2009 between Vince and management tho, a lot of talent used to shit on him to Meltzer when he was getting his pushes in the 2000s too

I thought Punk was good in Girl on the Third Floor it’s just the movie itself wasn’t great. He was in another movie called Jakob’s Wife which wasn’t great either and his role was small.

I’ve heard he’s good in Heels but never saw that, I suppose I’ll get around to it eventually with it being on Netflix.
